Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad change from a mainly agricultural farm to a site with additional facilities, and you mention several relevant features, including the farm shop, camping field, solar panels and holiday cottages. However, the response is under the required 150 words, which limits how fully you can report and compare the plans. Some details are inaccurate or unclear: the barn was already present in 1950, so it was not newly added, and the tracks were not simply converted into a road; the present plan shows an internal road network. The overview is also general, with little explanation of how the layout changed. To strengthen the response, describe the main spatial changes and distinguish retained features from new ones, such as the farmhouse and chickens remaining in place.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure, moving from an introduction to details and then a conclusion, and the reader can follow its general point that the farm has developed. However, progression is limited because the same idea—few facilities in 1950 and more today—is repeated in the opening, body and conclusion. Linking expressions such as “However,” “Nevertheless” and “Additionally” are used, but some do not clearly express the relationship between the information that follows. The body also lists features without grouping them by location or explaining how the layout changed. Organise the report into a concise overview and comparison paragraphs, for example covering the western fields and the eastern facilities, and use references such as “these areas” only when their meaning is clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing the plans, including “facilities,” “farmhouse,” “holiday cottages” and “solar panels,” so the topic is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “limited facility,” “in current time” and “the track is converted into a road.” There are also spelling and word-form errors, including “conlusion” and “sheeps,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for precise map vocabulary and natural collocations: describe features as “added,” “retained” or “replaced,” and use location language such as “to the north-east of” or “along the river.” This would make comparisons clearer and reduce repetition of “new facilities” and “amenities.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts a few longer structures, including “whereas” and “which is connecting,” but most sentences rely on simple patterns, and errors occur frequently enough to affect accuracy. For example, “The two plans illustrates” has subject–verb disagreement, while “new facilities has been introduced” also has incorrect agreement. Tense and article use are inconsistent in “In1950 there was only limited facility,” and the final sentence, “the both plans illustrates the plan,” is difficult to interpret grammatically. Punctuation is also uneven, as in “In 1950.” before the next clause. Practise accurate past and present descriptions, plural agreement, and sentence boundaries; then use a few controlled complex sentences to compare the two plans.
