Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The integration of two layouts illustrate the renovation that had taken place in beechwood farm between 1950 and present day.
considering from an overall perspective, it can be observed that the farmland is well faciliated for the tourists and the residents of the site. this farm underwent some major changes like construction of parking, farmshop, and camping field and also introduction of solar panels.
To commence with, sheep land is completely utilized to construct two parking areas, camping field, and solar panels. The track which was attached to a main road is now convered into a road along with that the barn was constructed in the south of the layout, which was earlier noticed in south-east. Farmhouse and chickens remained unchanged in both the maps. Similarly, soft fruits and vegetables, which is located in the west section offered no changes whereas in the area of fruit trees there was a construction of farm shop and along side that there was a inogration of paring.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad change from a working farm to a site with visitor facilities, mentioning parking, a camping field, a farm shop and solar panels. You also note that the farmhouse and chicken area remain, and that the fruit-tree, soft-fruit and vegetable areas are retained. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the sheep area was not simply converted into the two parking areas, camping field and solar panels; these facilities occupy different parts of the site, including areas to the east. The barn was already present in 1950, although its position changes. The overview also misses the holiday cottages, a major new feature. To make the account more complete, describe the main spatial changes accurately and distinguish retained features from relocated or newly added ones.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, a general overview and a paragraph describing changes. Linking expressions such as “To commence with” and “Similarly” show an attempt to connect information. However, the progression within the final paragraph is difficult to follow because several changes are compressed into long sentences, and the order of locations is not consistently clear. For example, the sentence beginning “The track which was attached to a main road” combines the road change with the barn’s position, while the final sentence moves between three crop areas and a new shop without a clear spatial sequence. Organise details by area or by what changed versus what remained, and use clearer references to guide the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “construction,” “parking areas,” “camping field,” “solar panels” and “remained unchanged.” This gives the response a suitable basic range for describing development. However, several word choices and spelling errors reduce precision, including “faciliated,” “convered,” “inogration” and “paring.” Some phrases are also unnatural or unclear, such as “integration of two layouts” and “sheep land is completely utilized.” Use standard terms such as “comparison,” “sheep pasture” and “converted,” and choose verbs that accurately describe map changes. More precise location language would also help distinguish facilities in different parts of the site.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “The track which was attached to a main road…” and a contrast in “whereas.” However, errors are frequent enough to make some sentences difficult to process. The opening has subject–verb disagreement: “The integration … illustrate” should use a singular verb. There are also problems with articles and sentence boundaries, as in “there was a construction of farm shop,” and the final sentence contains the faulty structure “there was a inogration of paring.” Capitalisation at the start of sentences is inconsistent, and some clauses are joined without clear punctuation. Build accuracy first with shorter, complete sentences, then add complex clauses where the relationships are clear.
