Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several important changes, including the addition of solar panels, a farm shop, parking and a camping field, and you note that the river and some agricultural areas remain. However, the overview is unclear: “a major change was seen in a sheep grazing fields” does not explain that the sheep area was replaced by new uses, especially camping and solar panels. Some details are inaccurate or confusing: the barn was not converted into cottages; the cottages occupy a separate area, while a barn remains in a new position. The claim that the farmhouse and chickens remain in the same place is broadly supported, but the description of the road changes and parking locations is imprecise. A clearer overview and more accurate comparisons would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction to changes and then an overall statement. It also groups several features together, such as the retained fields and newly added facilities. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the second paragraph combines unrelated details and uses unclear references, as in “Barn was converted into holiday cottages beside bank of road.” The final paragraph introduces the sheep field and camping area without clearly linking them to the earlier description. Connectors such as “By comparing” do not establish a clear comparison, and “now” is repeated frequently. Organise the report into retained features, changes in the western area, and changes in the eastern area, using precise references.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “triangular track,” “river,” “solar panels,” “farm shop,” and “holiday cottages,” so the reader can identify many of the features being discussed. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are unnatural or unclear, such as “new development was seen now,” “newly to introduce,” and “at the top right corner of north.” “Converted” is also misleading for the barn and cottages, since the map shows them as separate features. Spelling errors such as “comapring” and inconsistent capitalisation reduce accuracy. Aim for precise location language and standard map-report phrases, for example “was added,” “in the north-east,” and “remained unchanged.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response mainly uses short, simple statements and attempts a few longer comparisons, but these longer structures are often faulty. For example, “Fruit trees, Soft fruits, vegetables, chickens and farmhouse remains same now” has problems with subject–verb agreement, articles and sentence structure. “Solar panels was installed” also has an agreement error, while “Barn was converted into holiday cottages beside bank of road” lacks necessary articles and does not clearly express the relationship between the features. Tense use shifts between past and present, including “was seen now” and “remains same now.” These errors sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Practise accurate past passive forms for changes and present forms for features that remain.
