Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the broad change from a sheep area and tracks to a more developed site, and mention several relevant features, including the farm shop, camping, parking, solar panels and holiday cottages. However, the overview is unclear and includes inaccurate or unsupported claims: the tracks become roads, but the sheep area is not simply divided into two parts, and the barn does not appear to have been replaced or reduced. The description also misplaces the cottages as being on the barn site; they are south of the eastern road, while the barn remains. Important changes such as the new road layout and the retention of the farmhouse and chickens are not clearly compared. Select the main changes accurately and organise them into a clear overview and supporting details.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation: the response moves from an opening statement to an overview and then separate descriptions of 1950 and today. This gives the reader a general sense of the time sequence. However, progression within the paragraphs is weak, and several details are difficult to follow, such as “Nearest to 3 and 4 track site” and “This whole site nearest to the beautiful river.” Linking is also limited or awkward; “Meanwhile” does not clearly show the relationship between the features that follow, and the sentence beginning “Today” combines several locations without a clear order. Use one paragraph for the overview and one for each map, describing features by area or route, with clear links such as “in contrast” and “to the east.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “fruit trees,” “soft fruits,” “farmhouse,” “parking,” and “holiday cottages,” so the reader can recognise several map features. However, the range is limited and word choice or spelling errors sometimes make the meaning difficult to recover. Examples include “comparision,” “infrastruture,” “recpectively,” and “solar pannel.” Some expressions are also unsuitable or unclear for a map description, such as “daily walking track,” “potteryfarm,” and “beautiful river.” Aim for precise location and change vocabulary, for example “internal road,” “enclosure,” “was converted into,” and “is situated south of.” Check spelling and use the labels shown on the plans rather than inventing descriptions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the time references to 1950 and today show an effort to compare past and present. However, the range is limited, and frequent errors in sentence construction and verb forms make several statements hard to understand. For example, “The plan below illustrates the comparision … that made in 1950” lacks a correctly formed relative clause, while “it can be changed now by replace” has an incorrect verb pattern and tense. In “holiday cottages are makes,” the verb form is also faulty. Articles, plurals and punctuation are inconsistent, as in “three categories by fruit trees” and the sentence fragment after “fruit trees.” Practise accurate past and present passive forms and build complete sentences around one main idea.
