Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main transformation from a sheep field to a site with camping, parking and solar panels, and you note that several agricultural areas and the river remain. This gives the response a relevant overview and covers both the unchanged and developed parts of the plans. Some details, however, are inaccurate or unclear: the barn was not replaced by holiday cottages; the cottages are south of the eastern road, while the barn remains and is repositioned near the road junction. The farmhouse and chicken area also remain, but a new barn is not described as being beside the chicken area. Your account of the northern changes is more complete than the southern changes. More precise comparisons and a clearer account of the barn and cottages would strengthen the response further.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction and overview are followed by paragraphs about the southern and northern parts of the site. This makes the main comparison reasonably easy to follow. However, some linking and referencing are imprecise, particularly in the long third paragraph, where several changes are joined together without clearly distinguishing their locations. Phrases such as “In the area of fruit tree” and “beside chicken area” leave the reader to infer which features are being compared. The repeated use of “There was” also makes the progression somewhat mechanical. Organise the details by location and use clearer references such as “In the north-east” or “By contrast, the southern buildings…” to make the relationships between features more explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant map vocabulary, including “developed,” “facilities,” “camping field,” “parking” and “solar panels,” so the reader can understand the broad changes. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the description unclear. For example, “farm ship” appears to mean “farm shop,” and “unchaged” is repeatedly misspelled. “Highway” is less suitable than the map’s “road,” while “a lot of changes have done” is not a natural way to describe development. Try to use precise location and change vocabulary consistently, and check spelling and collocations. More accurate phrases such as “was converted into,” “remained unchanged” and “was added” would help you report the plans more clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and more complex forms, including “Though some area remain…” and “There was a big open space…, where…”. However, control is uneven, and errors in agreement, verb forms and sentence construction are noticeable. For example, “some new facilities has been built” should use a plural verb, while “which is now is a road” contains an unnecessary repeated verb. The sentence “A big area is has been developed for solar panels are…” combines incompatible structures. Articles and plurals also need attention in phrases such as “a holiday cottages.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause, even though the intended meaning is usually recoverable. Build accuracy by using shorter, complete sentences first, then add subordinate clauses once the main verb pattern is secure.
