Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several relevant changes, including the conversion of the track into a road, the addition of a farm shop, and new visitor facilities such as camping and parking. However, the account is only partly accurate and the main changes are not clearly summarised. For example, the 1950 layout is described as having the river behind all the areas and sheep on the other side, but the river borders the south-western and southern edges, while sheep occupy the northern area. The farmhouse and barn positions are also confused: the barn is north of the farmhouse in 1950, not to its left. Include a clear overview of the site’s shift towards tourism and renewable energy, and describe locations more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic chronological structure, moving from 1950 to today, and uses some linking expressions such as “beside,” “on the other hand,” and “Today.” This gives the reader a general sense of comparison. However, ideas are crowded into long, loosely connected sentences, and the repeated use of “beside” makes the spatial relationships difficult to follow. The opening also lists features without a clear overview, while the final opinion that the farm is “more better and beautiful” does not help organise the map information. Use separate paragraphs for the two plans, group features by area, and use clear contrasts such as “whereas” or “in contrast” to show what changed.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “fruit trees,” “soft fruits,” “farmhouse,” “parking area,” and “solar panels,” so the reader can recognise many of the features. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the description harder to understand, such as “front of rood,” “sheeps,” “chichens,” and “pakingarea.” Some expressions are also imprecise: “advancements” and “more better and beautiful” are not suitable ways to describe changes to a farm plan. Build a reliable set of location and change vocabulary, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise terms for positions and conversions would make the account clearer and more appropriate to an academic map description.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, but sentence structures are often incomplete or faulty, and errors frequently make relationships unclear. For instance, “The farmhouse had left side was barn” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “fruit tress area have farm shop” does not use an appropriate verb form. Tense and agreement are inconsistent when comparing the past with today, and articles and prepositions are often missing or misplaced. Punctuation and spacing also need attention, as in “Today,Beechwood” and “changed intoa.” Practise accurate simple sentences first, using past forms for 1950 and present forms for today, then combine them with controlled contrast clauses.
