Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad change from a track to roads and note that new facilities have been added, including a farm shop, camping field, solar panels and holiday cottages. You also correctly observe that the farmhouse and chicken enclosure remain in place. However, the overview is unclear: the claim that the “westen site…is same as before” overlooks that the fruit, soft-fruit and vegetable plots largely remain, while the sheep area is redeveloped. Some details are inaccurate or confusing, especially saying the barn was destroyed and replaced by cottages; the barn remains, while the cottages are south of the eastern road. Select the major changes more precisely and compare the two plans directly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic sequence, moving from a general comparison to features in different parts of the farm, and phrases such as “In 1950” and “In righthand side” attempt to guide the reader. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the description shifts between locations without a clear organising principle, and several references are ambiguous. For example, “the westen site of the farm is same as before” does not specify which features remain, while “the bran is repalce in easthern part” makes the relationship between the barn and cottages unclear. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and the main changes, then describe the western and eastern areas in a consistent order.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt relevant map vocabulary, including “facilities,” “farm shop,” “parking area,” “camping field” and “solar panels,” which helps convey the main subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the meaning difficult to understand, such as “root connected,” “lagre changes,” “resue” and “bran.” Some expressions are also unnatural for describing plans: “build in different time line” and “in todays date” do not clearly express change over time. Aim for accurate location and change vocabulary, such as “was converted into,” “remained unchanged,” “to the east of” and “was added.” Check spelling carefully, especially for key labels from the map.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, but grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes obscure the intended comparisons. Examples include “The maps compares,” where the plural subject needs a plural verb, and “the track way which use to be is repalce by road,” which has problems with tense, clause structure and articles. The sentence beginning “When you enter the farm” also shifts into direct address and does not form a clear comparison. Most sentences rely on basic patterns, with limited accurate control of complex structures. Practise past and present passive forms for map changes, such as “The track was replaced by a road,” and use complete, clearly punctuated sentences.
