Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the broad change from a simple farm to a more visitor-oriented site, mentioning additions such as parking, camping, solar panels and holiday cottages. This gives the reader a relevant overall impression. However, the account is only partially developed: it does not describe where these features are located or explain what happened to the original layout. For example, the fruit trees, soft-fruit and vegetable plots remain, while the former track network has become roads; the farm shop and camping field are also important additions. Some claims are imprecise, such as saying there were no roads in 1950, when tracks are shown. To strengthen the response, compare the main areas and their positions rather than relying mainly on general statements about facilities and development.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction and overview to descriptions of the two plans and a concluding sentence. This helps the reader follow the basic comparison. However, progression is limited because the same general point—that the present farm has more facilities—is repeated in the overview, the present-day paragraph and the conclusion. The description also groups information by broad impressions rather than by location or by changes to particular areas, so the comparison is not developed clearly. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” are used, but they do not create much connection between specific details. Organise the body around the site’s main zones or compare each 1950 feature with its present-day counterpart.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “facilities,” “parking,” “camping” and “holiday cottages,” and the main message remains understandable. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “facilities” and “present.” Some choices are vague or unnatural for describing a map: “alot of innovation” and “well established” do not precisely explain the physical changes. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “Beechwod,” “signifcantly,” “faclities,” “pannels” and “limitted,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for precise terms such as “converted,” “retained,” “added” and “located,” and use the labels from the plans to describe features rather than making broad claims about innovation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a few different sentence patterns, including a relative clause in “making the farm more developed,” and most sentences communicate the general idea. However, the range is narrow, with many short, simple statements, and errors in agreement, articles and sentence construction recur. For example, “the two different plans … shows” should use a plural verb, while “There was no facilities” has a mismatch between the singular verb and plural noun. “The farm manily consists” also shifts awkwardly between the past and present when describing the 1950 plan. Practise accurate past-tense descriptions and plural agreement, and combine related comparisons into controlled complex sentences. These changes would make the account more fluent without sacrificing clarity.
