Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the broad change from a working farm to a more commercial site, and you mention several relevant features, including the new parking areas, farm shop, holiday cottages, solar panels and camping field. However, the account is only partial and some comparisons are inaccurate or unclear. For example, the cottages are not built in the former barn’s location: they occupy the area south of the eastern road, while the barn remains on the site but is repositioned. The claim that the sheep area became the camping field is also not supported by the plans; the camping field is in the north-east. Important changes such as the internal roads and the retained fruit, soft-fruit and vegetable areas need clearer reporting. A concise overview and more accurate location comparisons would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is a basic chronological structure: you describe the 1950 plan first and then introduce the present-day layout with “Nowadays”. This helps the reader recognise the two time periods, and the second paragraph groups several modern developments together. However, the first paragraph is difficult to follow because several ideas are joined into one long sentence, and the sequence of locations is not consistently clear. Phrases such as “when you went end” and “from left side track” make it hard to understand the route being described. The response also lacks a clear overview to guide the comparison. Use separate sentences for the main areas, organise each period by location, and use linking phrases such as “By contrast” or “In the north-east” accurately.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “agricultural”, “parking lots”, “farm shop”, “holiday cottages” and “solar panels”, so the reader can identify several changes. However, the range is limited and some word choices or combinations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning unclear. For instance, “the track is converted into a road” is too broad because the internal track becomes a road while the main road is already present; “the barn is transfer” does not express the change naturally; and “sheep place” is an imprecise label for an area. Spelling errors such as “Firsly” and “wiil” also reduce accuracy. Practise precise location and change vocabulary, and check spelling and collocations before finishing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts to connect ideas with clauses, for example in “when you entry from road” and “when you went end of the Beechwood Farm”, but these structures are often faulty and make the description difficult to follow. There are frequent problems with verb forms and tense, including “is convert”, “is build” and “are install”, as well as agreement in “the holiday cottages is”. Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent: “a one farm shop” is not correctly formed, and the opening paragraph runs several ideas together with little punctuation. Most sentences rely on basic patterns, so the grammar does not yet show reliable control. Build shorter, accurate sentences first, then practise past-versus-present forms and simple comparisons such as “was replaced by” and “remains”.
