Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the two time periods and mention several relevant features, including the crop plots, the former sheep area, camping, and solar panels. However, the comparison is only minimally developed: the response does not clearly describe key changes such as the farm shop, two parking areas, and holiday cottages, or explain that the farmhouse and chickens remain. Some statements are unclear or inaccurate, particularly “all things toching everyone” and the claim that the livestock field and farm buildings were modernized. The overview also gives a vague impression rather than summarising the main changes. The response is 130 words, below the required 150, which further limits the detail provided. To improve, select the major changes and describe their locations and what was retained or replaced in clear, complete comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, an overview, and further description, and the sequence from 1950 to today is relevant. However, the progression is difficult to follow because several sentences do not express a complete or clear idea. For example, “Today all things toching everyone like river relate to crops growing…” does not show how the features relate, while the final line about the sheep field is left without a developed comparison. Linking words such as “Overall,” “In,” and “also” are used, but they do not create clear connections between the points. Use one paragraph for the main overview and separate paragraphs for the earlier and present layouts, grouping related changes and using clear references such as “the former sheep field” and “the farmhouse.”
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response attempts some task-relevant vocabulary, including “agriculture plots,” “river,” “solar panels,” “camping field,” and “parking.” These choices show awareness of the map topic, but the range is basic and several spelling and word-choice errors make the meaning hard to recover. Examples include “illastrate,” “transfermation,” “stracture,” “live stock,” and “paking.” Phrases such as “unique and combine stracture” and “all things toching everyone” are not natural or sufficiently precise for describing a site plan. Aim to use accurate map vocabulary and straightforward collocations, such as “the area was converted into” or “the farm added.” Proofreading spelling and choosing precise nouns for buildings and land uses would make the description clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You make an effort to form an overview and use longer sentences, but grammatical control is weak and errors frequently obscure the intended relationships. The opening, “The illastrate two beechwood farm at 1950 and today,” lacks a clear subject and has an incorrect time expression. In “the farm underwent a clear transfermation … this one best,” the sentence structure breaks down, and “the live stock field and farm bulding were modernized form” does not form a clear grammatical statement. Articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries also need attention. Practise writing complete simple sentences first, with a clear subject and verb, then add comparisons using patterns such as “In 1950, X was located…, whereas today it has been replaced by Y.”
