Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You provide a relevant comparison of the farm in 1950 and today, and your overview identifies several major changes: the track became a road, new visitor facilities appeared, and the sheep area became a camping field. You also correctly mention the relocation of the barn and the addition of holiday cottages and solar panels. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: the farmhouse was not “built near the river” as a key change, and the farm shop and first parking area are near the road junction rather than where the farmhouse road connects the farm to the main road. The final claim about “more options in its round about” is vague. To strengthen the report, describe the unchanged fruit, soft-fruit and vegetable plots and explain the new layout more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction and overview to the 1950 layout and then the present-day changes. This helps the reader follow the broad comparison. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes weak: the overview lists additions in a compressed sequence, while the final paragraph repeats the camping field and solar panels already mentioned. Some references are also difficult to follow, particularly “it” and “its” in the description of the road and farmhouse. Use clearer topic sentences and group related changes—for example, agricultural land and visitor facilities—rather than repeating points. More precise linking between the two plans would make the comparison feel more continuous.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant map vocabulary, including “track,” “river,” “fields,” “barn,” “parking” and “holiday cottages,” so the main features are generally identifiable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors reduce clarity: “sorroundings of form,” “track is coverted,” “camping field is organized,” and “more options in its round about” are not natural or precise descriptions. Spelling errors such as “pannels,” “bult” and “Holdiay” are also noticeable. Aim for accurate, conventional phrases such as “the farm’s layout,” “was converted into a road,” and “a camping area was created.” Check spelling carefully and avoid vague expressions when describing locations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, including “The track from main road towards form house has been converted to a proper road.” However, errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “The two Plans illustrates” should use a plural verb, while “The farmhouse have” needs singular agreement. Phrases such as “a parking been introduced” omit an auxiliary, and “Solar panels also being installed” lacks a finite verb. There are also tense inconsistencies when comparing past and present. Practise forming complete passive sentences and checking subject–verb agreement, articles and verb tense; these corrections would make your meaning more consistently clear.
