Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the two time periods and give an overall statement that the farm has changed, noting the removal of the sheep area and the expansion of access roads. These are relevant main features. However, several details are inaccurate or unclear: the solar panels are in the north-east, not the north-west, and the farm shop is west of the internal road rather than to the east. The barn is not clearly described as having moved from the western part; it is shown in a different position relative to the farmhouse and road. Important unchanged features, including the fruit, soft-fruit and vegetable plots, farmhouse and chicken enclosure, are also not adequately compared. Develop the overview around the main changes and report locations more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, an overview and a paragraph describing changes. This gives the reader a basic progression from the general transformation to selected details. However, the final paragraph combines several locations and changes in a way that is difficult to follow, and some references are unclear. For example, “at western and eastern direction a holiday cottage and a farm shop” does not make the locations or the relationship between these features clear. “In a nutshell” then repeats the general point rather than adding a useful comparison. Organise the details by area or by features that changed and remained, and use clear location references to make the comparisons easier to track.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of map-related vocabulary, including “layout,” “replaced,” “relocated,” “constructed” and “northern side,” which helps communicate the general idea of development. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “sheep yard” for the sheep area, “a solar panels,” and “area coverd with new constructions.” There are also spelling errors, including “altrations,” “fram” and “coverd,” which reduce precision. Some phrases, such as “showcasing is it gets a lot of area,” are difficult to interpret. Aim for standard map-description terms and check spelling and word forms; precise vocabulary will help distinguish the farm’s facilities and their locations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the overview sentence beginning “Overall” and the longer sentence describing the sheep area and new facilities. The main message is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity. For example, “the major altrations were seen in sheep yard” needs an article and a more natural construction, while “a solar panels” has incorrect article and plural agreement. The sentence beginning “Moving further” also has unclear coordination and article use, and “The important thing that todays beechwood farm showcasing is it gets” has a faulty clause structure. Use shorter, complete sentences when listing changes, and check articles, agreement, tense and punctuation.
