Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main transformation from sheep pasture to a camping field and solar panels, and you note the addition of a farm shop, parking and holiday cottages. You also compare several features that remain, which gives the response a relevant overview. The description of the barn moving west and the cottages occupying its former area is broadly consistent with the plans. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: the sheep area is described as covering the central and north-east parts, although it is shown north of the track, and the two parking areas are not clearly distinguished. The claim that the fruit plots, vegetables and farmhouse are all unchanged also overlooks the altered road layout. More precise comparisons of the site’s key changes would strengthen the summary.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview and paragraphs describing the site before and after the changes. This helps the reader follow the broad comparison, and linking expressions such as “However” and “On the other hand” show an attempt to connect contrasting information. At times, though, the progression is difficult to follow because several locations and changes are combined in one sentence. For example, the sentence about the sheep area, camping field, solar panels and parking moves between features without a clear order. Some connectors are also used mechanically or with unclear relationships. Organise the details by area—for example, the western fields first, then the northern and eastern facilities—and use references that make each location explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “camping field”, “solar panels”, “parking”, “relocated” and “holiday cottages”, so the reader can identify many of the changes. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms make the description less clear, such as “renovation a farm”, “aquire some for parking” and “bulid a solar panels”. Spelling errors, including “threes” for “trees” and “bukid” for “built”, are noticeable. Some phrases are also imprecise: “same place there was nothing change” does not clearly describe which features remained. Build a bank of accurate terms for map changes, such as “remained”, “was converted into”, “was added” and “was relocated”, and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “However” and a comparison introduced by “while”. Nevertheless, grammatical control is weak: errors in articles, verb forms, agreement and sentence construction occur throughout and sometimes make relationships difficult to understand. For example, “The farm site is cover three side with river” needs a passive construction and accurate plural and article forms; “There are several changes can we seen” has an incorrect clause structure; and “Fruit trees, soft fruits, vegetables and farmhouse located in same place” is missing a suitable verb and articles. Punctuation and capitalisation are also inconsistent. Practise accurate present and past passive forms, and build complete sentences before adding linking clauses.
