Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the two time periods and report several relevant changes, including the replacement of sheep grazing with a camping field and the conversion of tracks into roads. You also note that the fruit trees, soft fruits and vegetables remain. However, the account is only partial: it misplaces the barn and farmhouse in 1950, and the claim that the farmhouse remains in the same place is inaccurate. The present-day farm shop, solar panels, and two parking areas are mentioned incompletely or not clearly, while the river’s position is overstated as surrounding the whole site. A clearer overview of the main changes, followed by accurate comparisons of the buildings and land uses, would make the response more complete and precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic time-based structure, with one paragraph about 1950 and another about today, so the reader can recognise the intended comparison. Some information is also grouped by location, such as the sequence of agricultural plots. However, progression within the paragraphs is difficult to follow: the first paragraph moves between sheep, buildings, crops and the river without clear transitions, and the second combines several changes in a long sequence. Repeated forms such as “under that” and “beside that” are not always clear about which feature they refer to. Organise the report into an overview and focused comparison paragraphs, and use precise links such as “by contrast,” “to the east,” and “while” to guide the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “camping field,” “holiday cottages,” “fruit trees,” and “parking,” which helps communicate the map’s features. However, the range is limited and several choices or spellings make the description less clear, such as “soft trees” for soft fruits, “parking sign board” for a parking area, and “lane of river” for the river’s course. There are also frequent spelling errors, including “sheeps,” “pannels,” “vegitable,” and “connetd.” Aim for accurate map vocabulary and check spelling carefully; using terms such as “grazing area,” “internal road,” and “remained unchanged” would make the comparisons more precise and natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts to describe locations and changes using simple clauses and some longer sentences, but grammatical control is inconsistent and errors often make relationships difficult to interpret. For example, “The given images shows” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “there was a huge place for sheeps where they are taken care or given shelter to them” has problems with tense, clause structure and pronoun use. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also unreliable, as seen in “In the 1950 . In the place…” and the long sentence beginning “In todays time.” Practise forming complete, controlled sentences, keeping past and present tenses consistent, and checking articles, plurals and agreement before adding more complex clauses.
