Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main change from a sheep area to new facilities and note that the farm shop, parking, camping field and solar panels have been added. You also correctly mention that the farmhouse, soft-fruit and vegetable areas remain, and that the track has become a road. These points provide a relevant overview and address the comparison. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: the original barn was not removed; it remains, although its position relative to the road has changed. The response also says little about the camping field and does not clearly describe the new layout, including the cottages and two parking areas. Develop the overview and report the key changes more precisely to make the comparison more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and two detail paragraphs. This helps the reader distinguish the general changes from specific features. However, progression within the detail paragraphs is uneven: the first moves from the farm shop to parking and then back to the former sheep area, while the second combines retained features, solar panels, parking, the barn and cottages without a clear spatial or chronological order. Linking words such as “Whereas,” “However,” and “Moreover” are used, but some connections are awkward or do not clearly show the relationship between ideas. Group details by area or by what changed and what remained, and use clearer references to guide the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of map vocabulary, including “facilities,” “converted,” “removed,” “constructed,” and “remain unchanged,” which allows you to describe development and retention. Some word choices and combinations are imprecise, however, and occasionally make the meaning less natural: “the facilities there has been improved,” “beside of fruit trees,” and “along opposite that solar panels” are examples. There are also spelling errors, including “illustartes” and “impoved.” Aim for accurate collocations and concise location language, such as “next to the fruit trees” or “opposite the solar panels.” This would make your descriptions clearer and more appropriate to a formal map report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including contrast clauses beginning “Whereas” and “While,” and the overall meaning is generally recoverable. However, errors in agreement, articles, sentence boundaries and clause construction are evident. For example, “the facilities there has been” should use a plural verb, and “there is a newly built farm shop now available beside of fruit trees” has an awkwardly formed location phrase. The final sentence is incomplete, ending with “road b,” and “However” is followed by a fragment-like construction. Use complete sentences, check subject–verb agreement and articles, and punctuate contrast clauses carefully. These corrections would improve control while retaining your attempts at varied structures.
