Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main change from a largely agricultural farm to a site with additional facilities, and you note that the river remains and that fruit and soft-fruit areas are still present. These are relevant comparisons. However, several important changes are only vaguely described: for example, the former sheep area becomes a camping field, solar panels and parking are added, and holiday cottages appear near the farmhouse. The description of locations is also sometimes unclear, particularly “in the right but side of road.” The overview, “there is a huge difference,” is too general to summarise the main pattern precisely. Organise the report around the retained features and the new developments, and describe their positions more accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to move through the site, using phrases such as “Now moving toward” and “In conclusion,” and the response broadly contrasts 1950 with today. However, it is presented as one long, loosely connected paragraph, so the reader has difficulty following the changes and locating features. Linking is often repetitive or unclear: “but today,” “now,” and “there” recur, while “It is a similiraty between 1950 and todays in the right but side of road” does not clearly connect the comparison. Group the information into an introduction, an overview, and two organised detail paragraphs. Use clear spatial references and contrast markers to show which features remained, moved, or were added.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “main road,” “farm shop,” “holiday cottage,” “solar panels,” and “river,” so the reader can recognise several features. However, the range is limited and several expressions are imprecise or informal, such as “many other things,” “different things,” and “huge difference.” Spelling errors—including “trtess,” “similiraty,” and “sollar penals”—also make the writing less clear. Some word combinations are awkward, for example “a proper road which is very help for the people.” Use precise map vocabulary such as “was converted into,” “was replaced by,” “remained unchanged,” and “was added,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts to compare past and present, but sentence structures are often incomplete or run together, as in “There are two charts below which shows the beechwood farm In 1950 there is a main road…” and “From the left side of road there are soft fruits tday.” Agreement and tense are inconsistent: “which shows” should agree with “charts,” and the account shifts between “there is” and “there were” when describing the maps. Articles and sentence boundaries are also frequently missing, making relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Use short, complete sentences with consistent past tense for 1950 and present tense for today, then add a few controlled comparison clauses, such as “While the river remains, the former sheep area is now used for camping.”
