Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the comparison between the 1950 farm and its present-day layout, and you mention several genuine changes: solar panels, camping facilities, two parking areas, a farm shop and holiday cottages. However, the account is only partial and some key details are unclear or inaccurate. The sheep area is not simply divided into “different chunks”: the present plan shows the camping field and solar panels in the former open area, while the fruit, soft-fruit and vegetable plots remain. The claim that the cottages replaced the barn is misleading; the barn remains, though its position has changed. The overview also does not clearly summarise the main transformation. Compare the two plans more precisely and cover the retained features as well as the additions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is an attempt to organise the response with an opening, an overview beginning “Overall,” and a further paragraph describing changes. Linking expressions such as “Moreover” also show an effort to connect ideas. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the overview and details are not clearly separated, and several changes are crowded into long sentences. The second paragraph moves from the sheep area to parking, the farm shop and cottages without a clear spatial or chronological order. References such as “which” and “the right side of map” are also not always clear. Use distinct paragraphs for the overall changes and for specific areas, then group details by location and use straightforward comparisons such as “whereas” or “in contrast.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “solar energy production plant,” “camping facilities,” “parking spots,” “fruit trees” and “cottages for holidays,” so the reader can identify several features. However, the range is limited and a number of word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, which sometimes makes the description hard to interpret. For example, “chunked” is not suitable for describing land divisions, “revolutionalized” overstates the changes, and “barnb” appears to be a spelling or typing error. “Solar panels” and “holiday cottages” are the precise labels shown on the plan. Aim for accurate, neutral map language and avoid elaborate wording when a simple term describes the feature more clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts longer sentences and uses a relative clause, for example “which replaces the previously existed barn,” but complex structures are often faulty and make relationships between ideas unclear. There are frequent problems with verb forms and agreement: “map demonstrate,” “which have been chunked,” and “which have been shifted” do not agree consistently with their subjects or intended time reference. Articles and sentence boundaries are also problematic, as in “the same place now” and the run-on opening “Overall,it shows map.” Punctuation spacing is inconsistent, and the final sentence contains several clauses joined without clear control. Practise accurate past-versus-present comparisons and build sentences around one main change at a time.
