Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the broad contrast between the 1950 farm and its present-day use, mentioning new facilities such as solar panels, a camping field, parking and a farm shop. However, the overview is incomplete and includes inaccuracies: the soft-fruit and vegetable areas remain agricultural, but their locations and surrounding layout have changed, so saying they are “unchanged” is too broad. The farmhouse area is not the only part with little change; the barn and chicken enclosure also remain, while the barn has shifted. Important changes such as holiday cottages and the road replacing tracks are only briefly or inaccurately covered. The response also stops mid-sentence and is 28 words below the required minimum, limiting the detail and comparisons provided.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview and two detail paragraphs, and phrases such as “Overall” and “Moreover” help signal relationships. The progression is nevertheless limited because the details are not organised into a clear comparison of the western agricultural area and the eastern farm buildings and new facilities. The final paragraph ends abruptly at “beside the riv”, leaving an idea unfinished and weakening the overall flow. Some linking is also awkward, as in “By examine the maps more closely,” and the response does not consistently connect each present-day feature to its 1950 counterpart. Group related changes and complete each paragraph with clear, connected comparisons.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some relevant map vocabulary, including “solar panels,” “camping field,” “parking,” “farm shop” and “holiday cottages,” so the reader can identify several changes. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate: “planting” and “planted” do not naturally describe installing solar panels, “at advance map” is unclear, and “chicken place” is imprecise for the enclosure. Spelling errors such as “sheeps,” “vegitables” and “feilds” are noticeable. Use precise terms such as “installed,” “located” and “enclosure,” and check spelling. A wider set of accurate verbs for describing changes would make the account clearer and more suitable for an academic report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer structures, including “while there is slightly changes in farm house area” and “Moreover the track is changed to the road…”. However, errors are frequent and sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include subject–verb agreement in “the biggest changes is” and “the solar panels is,” incorrect plural structure in “there is slightly changes,” and the faulty opening “By examine the maps more closely.” Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention, and the final sentence is incomplete. Practise accurate present and past passive forms for map changes—for example, “solar panels have been installed”—alongside simpler, complete comparison sentences. This would improve control without requiring more complicated structures.
