Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the overall transformation and report several relevant additions, including solar panels, a camping field, parking areas and a farm shop. You also note that the farmhouse and some agricultural areas remain. However, the account is only partly accurate and leaves important changes unclear. The statement that the barn was “occupied by Holiday cottages” is misleading: the cottages are south of the eastern road, while the barn remains elsewhere on the site. You also say a barn was introduced to the right of the chickens, although the original barn is relocated to the south-west of the farmhouse. The overview would be stronger if it clearly summarised the conversion of the track to roads and the site’s shift towards tourism, while accurately distinguishing retained and relocated features.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview and two paragraphs of details. This gives the reader some organisation, and the final paragraphs group several additions and changes together. However, progression is not consistently clear. The overview repeats the general idea that there were “lot of changes” and says facilities were both removed and replaced without specifying which ones. Linking words such as “Moreover,” “Besides that,” and repeated “While” do not always show the relationship between ideas clearly; the sentence beginning “While, soft fruits…” is also left without a clear contrast. Organise the details by area or by retained versus added/relocated features, and use more precise references so each comparison follows logically.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant map vocabulary such as “north east,” “entrance,” “parking area,” “fruit trees” and “road,” which helps communicate locations and changes. There is also some attempt to vary expressions with “added,” “introduced” and “constructed.” However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, including “occupied by Holiday cottages” and “linking the other side to the road.” Repetition of “added” and “changes” also makes the description less precise. Spelling errors such as “contructed” and “introducted” are noticeable. Aim for accurate map-specific verbs and collocations, such as “converted into,” “located beside,” “retained” and “replaced by,” while checking spelling and avoiding repeated general terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a few longer structures, including “Some facilities has been added and some was removed” and the sentence contrasting additions with features that remain. However, the response relies mainly on simple statements, and errors occur frequently in agreement, articles and sentence construction. For example, “The two diagram show” needs plural agreement, while “Solar panel have been added” and “two parking area has introduced” contain number and verb-form errors. Articles are also missing or inconsistent in phrases such as “same site today” and “to a farm.” The sentence beginning “While, soft fruits…” is not a complete, well-formed contrast. Practise accurate present-perfect and passive forms for changes, and build clear compound sentences with correct subject–verb agreement.
