Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the two time periods and mention several relevant features, including the sheep area in 1950 and the parking, camping field and solar panels today. However, the comparison is only partly addressed: the overview says the main road is the same, but does not clearly summarise the major changes to the farm’s layout or land use. Some details are inaccurate or unclear. For example, the chickens are south of the farmhouse in both plans, not in the “left corner of the river,” and the river is not a feature available only in the earlier plan. The response also repeats labels rather than explaining what changed. A clearer overview and accurate comparisons of the new facilities and retained areas would strengthen the report.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has separate paragraphs and uses basic sequencing signals such as “Overall,” “Moreover” and “In the above,” so there is an attempt to organise the information. However, progression is difficult to follow because the paragraphs do not consistently distinguish the 1950 layout from the present one, and several points are repeated, particularly the parking, camping field and solar panels. Connections between features are also unclear: “The holidays cottages and farmhouse and barn or chicken are located near the river” groups several places together without showing their positions or relationships. Use one paragraph for the overview, then organise the details by period or by area, with clear comparisons and more precise referencing.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “track,” “fruit trees,” “soft fruits,” “vegetables” and “solar panels,” which helps identify the features being described. However, the range is limited and many phrases are repeated, especially “are available” and “diagram.” Some word choices are inaccurate or imprecise: “soft drinks” appears to mean “soft fruits,” while “thinks” does not communicate which new features you mean. There are also spelling errors such as “pannels,” “avaible” and “barm.” Choose verbs that describe map changes and locations, and check the spelling of labels. More precise terms such as “remains,” “is replaced by” and “is situated” would make the comparisons clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Most sentences use a basic subject–verb pattern, and the reader can sometimes identify the intended features. However, grammatical errors occur frequently and can make relationships difficult to understand. Subject–verb agreement is often incorrect, as in “This two diagrams illustrates” and “the main road are.” Articles and plurals are also inconsistent, for example “in the two diagram” and “the sheep space are.” The response relies heavily on the repeated structure “are available,” with little variety in sentence forms. Practise accurate present-tense descriptions using patterns such as “The farmhouse is located south of…” and “The former sheep area has been converted into…”. Check agreement, articles and plural nouns when editing.
