Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main transformation and several key features: the sheep area gives way to camping and solar facilities, tracks become roads, and new holiday cottages and a farm shop appear. You also note that the three crop areas remain, which is an important comparison. This gives the report a clear overview and addresses both maps. Some details, however, are inaccurate or unclear: the barn was not replaced by cottages; it remains on the site, relocated to the south-west near the road junction. The farmhouse and chicken enclosure also remain in their original general positions. The overview would be more complete if it highlighted these retained features and described the changes to the eastern part more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction and overview are followed by a description of 1950 and then the present-day changes. This makes the comparison easy to follow. You use linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Furthermore,” and “However,” although some are repeated or do not express the relationship accurately; “However” is not needed to introduce a straightforward description of the changes, and “Whereas” creates an awkward final sentence. Some references are also unclear, particularly “it” in “the barn area is changed” and “it was under the barn.” Grouping the features by location, and using clearer contrasts such as “while” or “by contrast,” would make the progression smoother and cohesion less mechanical.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant map vocabulary, including “adjacent,” “replaced,” “camping field,” “parking,” and “remained unchanged,” so the reader can understand the main developments. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “sheep farm” for the sheep area, “distributed by” for replaced, and “transfered to the end” for the barn’s relocation. There are also spelling errors in “pannels” and “constructred,” and “farm condition” is not a natural way to describe the site. These errors make the description less precise, though the intended meaning is generally recoverable. Aim for accurate map-specific verbs such as “converted,” “relocated,” and “retained.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mix of simple sentences and longer structures, including “Furthermore” and “Whereas” clauses, but control is uneven. Several sentences have missing or incorrect verb forms: “the sheep area on the northern side” needs a main verb, while “has been undergo” and “has been constructred” use faulty verb patterns. Agreement and articles also need attention in “the tracks has” and “a river flowing.” The phrase “a track was available for the in the middle” is structurally incomplete, and “In addition to” is not correctly followed by a noun phrase. These errors sometimes make relationships difficult to interpret. Practise complete clauses, subject–verb agreement, and consistent past-versus-present forms when comparing the maps.
