Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the overall transformation and mention several relevant changes, including the new parking, camping area, farm shop and holiday cottages. You also note that the fruit and vegetable areas remain. However, the overview is broad, and some details are inaccurate or unclear: the second parking area is beside the eastbound road, not the solar panels, and the new barn is not described as a renovated building. The original barn remains, while the farmhouse and chicken enclosure also remain. The response is 147 words, three words below the required minimum. To strengthen the report, give a clearer overview of how the farm’s facilities and access changed, and accurately compare the main buildings and land uses.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure, with an opening, an overview and a paragraph describing changes, followed by a brief note on unchanged features. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, progression is limited: the final sentence is very short and disconnected from the preceding paragraph, while several changes are crowded into one long sequence beginning “Firstly”. Linking expressions such as “Moreover” help, but the relationships between locations and changes are not always clear. Organise the details into clearer groups—for example, land use and new facilities, then buildings and unchanged features—and use location references to guide the reader through the plan. This would make the comparison easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “parking spot”, “camping fields”, “farm shop” and “holiday cottages”, so the main topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to interpret, such as “parkinf”, “panal”, “fruite”, “bottum” and “burn”. “Sheeps” is also an incorrect plural, and “renovated” does not accurately describe the change to the barn area. Aim for precise terms such as “parking areas”, “solar panels” and “barn”, and check spelling carefully. Using a wider range of accurate change verbs—such as “was replaced by”, “was converted into” and “remained”—would help you describe the plans more precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts a few different sentence patterns, including the overview sentence “Most other parts did not canged much” and a relative clause in “the area where are chickens are located”. However, errors occur frequently and sometimes make the intended meaning hard to follow. For example, “has changed from that was in 1950” has an incomplete comparison structure, “The place … are now converted” has faulty agreement and verb form, and “Camping fields has introduce” is missing the correct passive construction. There are also problems with articles and sentence formation, as in “a nes small squre size burn has built”. Practise accurate past and present passive forms for map changes, and check subject–verb agreement and complete clause structure.
