Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main change as the farm becoming more developed and mention several important features, including the new camping area, solar panels, farm shop and holiday cottages. You also note that the farmhouse and chicken enclosure remain in place, which is a useful comparison. However, some locations and changes are unclear or inaccurate: the sheep area is not simply “shifted into” the new facilities, and the barn was not replaced by the cottages; the cottages are near the former barn area, while the barn remains elsewhere on the site. The description of the 1950 layout is also difficult to follow. To strengthen the response, give a clearer overview of what stayed, what changed, and where the main new facilities were added.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate descriptions of the earlier and current plans. This gives the reader a basic chronological route through the information. Some linking expressions, such as “Overall” and “Furthermore,” help connect points. However, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and several details are crowded into long sentences, particularly the account of the 1950 layout. References such as “the same place” and “the other side” do not always make the locations precise. Organise the body by areas or by features that remained and changed, and use clearer location references so comparisons are easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “track,” “river,” “fruit trees,” “solar panels,” “parking area” and “holiday cottages.” Phrases such as “considerable development” also help convey the overall transformation. However, spelling errors and imprecise or awkward word choices are noticeable, for example “cahnges,” “beacem,” “facilites” and “built ed.” Some expressions, including “shifted into” and “on the same place,” do not accurately describe changes in a site plan. Aim for precise verbs such as “remained,” “was added” and “was relocated,” and check spelling carefully. A wider range of accurate location phrases would also make the comparisons more exact.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a contrast introduced by “while” and a sentence beginning “Furthermore.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors make relationships between features difficult to understand. For example, “Several new feature was constructed” has problems with plural agreement, and “In 1950, the farm has” uses an unsuitable tense for the past. Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “the area bacem converted” and the long sentence ending “of fram.” Use the past simple consistently for 1950 and the present simple or present perfect for the current plan, and check subject–verb agreement, articles and punctuation.
