Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify that the farm has changed substantially and mention several relevant features, including the removal of sheep, the camping field, solar panels, the farm shop and holiday cottages. However, the account is only partial: it does not clearly compare the two plans or describe important retained features, such as the fruit, soft-fruit and vegetable plots, farmhouse and chicken enclosure. Some locations are also unclear or inaccurate; for example, the solar panels are east of the camping field, not north of a parking area, and the barn is not simply replaced by cottages. The overview is difficult to interpret, and the response is two words below the required minimum. A clearer overview and more accurate, selected comparisons would strengthen the report.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response, beginning with an introduction and overview before moving from 1950 to today. Time markers such as “In 1950” and “since than” help signal this sequence. However, the progression is difficult to follow because several ideas are crowded into long, loosely connected sentences, especially the description of today’s changes. Punctuation and linking are inconsistent, and phrases such as “in the right of camping field and in the left of it” do not make the spatial relationships clear. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and each period, then group features by location and connect comparisons explicitly, for example, “whereas” or “in contrast.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “track,” “barn,” “camping field,” “solar panels” and “farm shop,” so the reader can recognise several features. However, the range is limited and some word choices or combinations make the meaning unclear, such as “redevelopment sheep,” “grow trees,” and “change place of barn.” Repetition of basic terms such as “build” and “place” also limits precision. Aim to use accurate map-description language and collocations, such as “was converted into,” “was added,” “to the east of,” and “remained unchanged.” Check spelling and word forms as well, including “panels” and “holiday cottages,” to make the description easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the past-to-present comparison is a useful structure for this task. However, grammatical errors are frequent, and several sentences are difficult to understand. Examples include “the farm contain,” “new facilities build,” and “in the south for farm there change place of barn”; these show problems with tense, passive forms and sentence construction. Articles and prepositions are also often missing or incorrectly used, as in “layout of farm” and “right ans south for farm.” Punctuation is unreliable, with sentences running together after “track” and “camping field.” Practise complete sentences with consistent past and present forms, and use passive constructions such as “a farm shop was added.”
