Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad change from a working farm to a site with added visitor and energy facilities, and you mention several relevant features, including the solar panels, farm shop, camping field and holiday cottages. However, the comparison is only partial and some locations or relationships are inaccurate: the cottages are south of the eastbound road and the farmhouse, while the barn is to the farmhouse’s south-west, not simply “near the barn” as your description suggests. The 1950 layout also needs clearer reporting: the sheep area was north of the track, and the fruit, soft-fruit and vegetable plots were grouped between the track and river. Develop a more precise overview and compare what remained as well as what was added.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall structure, moving from an introduction and overview to the 1950 plan and then the present-day changes. This gives the reader some sense of progression. However, the organisation within the paragraphs is not always clear, and several linking expressions are inaccurate or repetitive. “In one hand” and “On other hand” do not form natural transitions, while “Rather then it” makes the relationship between details difficult to follow. The final paragraph lists additions without a clear spatial order. Grouping features by area—for example, the western fields and shop, then the eastern visitor facilities—would make the comparison easier to follow. Use fewer, more accurate connectors and make references between sentences explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “solar panels,” “holiday cottages,” “farm shop” and “camping field,” so the reader can identify several important features. However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations are noticeably unnatural, such as “the structure of a farm,” “sheep yard,” and “prevent their sheep to went there.” Repetition of “added” and “near” also limits precision, particularly when describing locations and changes. Aim to use a wider set of accurate map-description terms, such as “located,” “situated,” “replaced,” or “converted,” and distinguish clearly between a track, a road and a field. More precise vocabulary would help communicate the site’s layout without relying on general phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, but control is inconsistent, and errors occur frequently enough to make some relationships harder to understand. For example, “between 1950 and in today” has an incorrect time construction, while “the farm have” shows subject–verb disagreement. In “to prevent their sheep to went there,” the verb pattern and verb form are faulty; “to prevent the sheep from entering” would be clearer. Articles and sentence structure also need attention in phrases such as “in west side” and “the last thing is to added.” Practise accurate past and present forms for comparing plans, and build longer sentences around reliable patterns such as “In 1950, X was located…, whereas today…”
