Student answer (Band 5.5)

the layout explains the area of the beechwood farm in 1950 and the same area today, Overall the area is greatly redeveloped with more advanced and new places ,Additionally it attracted more people. For instance the place of sheep is fully renovated into something new and different, the barn area also changes, solar panels are also installed, new parking area ,making it is easy for people to parked cars.

I contemplate, that today beach wood farm is more eye catching and fascinating. Moreover, the biggest development in the layout is in sheep location, for instance in today farm sheep area is renovated into some thing more advance like camping fields, new solar panels, More interestingly there are two parking areas one is near solar panel and other is near camping field , now people can easily park their cars without any hustle.

On the other hand, the barn area is converted into holiday cottages and its location has been changed to an area near chickens adjacent to road.

Farm shop is also developed near fruit trees. and one important thing the track is now converted into road additionally the two roads making a triangle is joining barn now.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the two time periods and give a general overview that the farm has been redeveloped, then describe several relevant changes: the former sheep area is now used for camping and solar panels, parking has been added, and a farm shop is near the fruit trees. You also note the conversion of the track into roads and the addition of holiday cottages. These points address the main task, but some details are unclear or inaccurate: the barn has not become the cottages; the cottages occupy the area north of the farmhouse, while the barn remains on the site in a different position. The parking locations are also misidentified. A more complete comparison of what stayed the same, such as the fruit, soft-fruit and vegetable areas, would make the report more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has some organisation: it begins with an overview, then discusses changes around the former sheep area and the buildings. However, progression is not consistently clear, and several points are repeated, particularly the sheep-area redevelopment, solar panels and parking. Linking phrases such as “Moreover” and “On the other hand” are used, but the contrast signalled by “On the other hand” is not clearly established. Some sentences also combine several changes without showing their relationship, making the map description harder to follow. Group the information by location or by features that changed and those that remained, and use more precise references such as “in the north-east” or “south of the farmhouse” to guide the reader.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a site, including “redeveloped,” “converted,” “installed,” “holiday cottages” and “farm shop.” However, the range is limited and several choices or collocations are unnatural, such as “more eye catching and fascinating,” “more advanced and new places,” and “without any hustle.” Repetition of “new,” “area” and “people” also reduces precision. There are spelling and word-form issues, including “beach wood” for “Beechwood” and “parked cars” where the intended meaning is parking cars. Aim for neutral, map-focused language rather than personal impressions, and choose precise terms for changes in land use and location.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “for instance” and “that,” but control is uneven. Errors in sentence boundaries and punctuation are evident in “Farm shop is also developed near fruit trees. and one important thing…” and in the opening, where several ideas are joined with commas. There are also problems with articles and verb forms, for example “the place of sheep is fully renovated” and “making it is easy for people to parked cars.” Some sentence structures are difficult to follow, as in “the two roads making a triangle is joining barn now.” Use complete sentences, check subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and punctuate each main idea clearly. More accurate complex sentences would improve clarity.
