Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the broad change from a mainly agricultural farm to a site with visitor facilities, mentioning the camping field, solar panels, parking and farm shop. You also note that some land uses remain, which is relevant. However, the overview is unclear and partly contradictory: you first say there were many changes, then conclude that the farm “remains almost same.” Some details are inaccurate or imprecise: the sheep area is not simply converted into the camping field, and the barn is relocated rather than merely moved to “the other side of the road.” The response also omits important changes, especially the holiday cottages and the new road layout. Select the main transformations and describe their locations more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic overall structure, beginning with an introduction and attempting to compare the two plans. Phrases such as “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” show an effort to connect ideas. However, the comparison does not progress in a clear order, and several points are crowded into one long paragraph. The contrast markers are sometimes unsuitable: “In the contrary” does not clearly introduce the final point, while “whereas” is used in a way that makes the relationship between ideas difficult to follow. The overview also conflicts with the conclusion. Organise the report into a clear overview followed by grouped details—for example, changes in the northern area and changes around the buildings—and use linking words only where the relationship is clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “camping field,” “farm shop,” “parking,” and “remain,” so the reader can identify several features. However, the range is limited and repeated, with “changes” and “areas” doing much of the descriptive work. Several word choices or forms are inaccurate, such as “constructional development,” “sheeps,” “disloacted,” and “soft vegetables”; the map labels the latter as “soft fruits.” Spelling errors such as “pannels” and “Furthuremore” also reduce clarity. Aim for precise verbs and location phrases, such as “was converted into,” “was relocated,” “to the north of,” and “alongside the road.” Check spelling and use the exact labels shown on the plans.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt longer sentences and comparisons, but the structures are often faulty, which makes some relationships difficult to understand. For example, “The two maps compares” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “there is a lot of changing occur” combines incompatible verb forms. Other examples include “there is only few things” and “remain on its place,” where agreement and sentence patterns are not controlled. Punctuation and capitalisation are also inconsistent, particularly where a sentence continues after “fruit trees.” Use a reliable mix of short, accurate sentences and a few controlled complex ones. For instance: “In 1950, the site contained a sheep field and several crop plots. Today, the sheep area has been replaced by visitor facilities.”
