Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the two time periods and report several relevant features, including the fruit, soft-fruit and vegetable plots, the sheep area, and new facilities such as the farm shop, camping area, solar panels and holiday cottages. However, the comparison is only partial and some details are inaccurate or unclear: for example, the 1950 plots are not described as “stalls,” and the present-day parking is not clearly located. The overview, “overall structure is consist of various business stall,” does not accurately summarise the main transformation. A stronger response would state the key changes clearly—for instance, that the farm has gained visitor facilities while some agricultural areas and the farmhouse and chickens remain—and compare the locations of the main features more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic chronological structure: you describe the 1950 plan first and then move to “today,” which helps the reader follow the broad comparison. You also use sequencing expressions such as “firstly,” “then,” and “in addition.” However, the response has no clear paragraphing, and the long first description combines several locations in one sentence, making the relationships difficult to follow. Some links are repetitive or unclear, such as “then after the parking” and “that all the process occured beside the river.” Organise the response into a brief overview and separate paragraphs for each plan, grouping features by location. Use precise links such as “to the east of” and “while” to make comparisons rather than relying mainly on a list.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “fruit trees,” “soft fruits,” “vegetables,” “track,” “barn,” and “holiday cottages,” so the reader can recognise several features. However, the range is limited and a number of word choices or collocations make the description difficult to interpret. “Business stall” does not describe the farm’s overall layout, “eating things” is vague, and “two camps” is not the natural term for the camping field. There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, including “separetely” and “backtimes.” Aim for precise location and change vocabulary, and use the labels from the plan accurately—for example, “camping field,” “visitor facilities,” and “was converted into.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts some longer sentences and uses present and past time references, but grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors often make relationships between features unclear. Examples include “overall structure is consist,” “it occured beside the road that involve,” and “there was a holiday cottages.” These show problems with verb forms, agreement and articles. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also weak: several ideas are joined with commas, as in the long sentence beginning “In 1950 it occured beside the road.” Use straightforward, complete sentences first, checking that each has a clear subject and correctly formed verb. Then add controlled comparisons with structures such as “whereas” or “while” rather than joining many details in one sentence.
