Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response identifies the broad change from an agricultural farm to a site with visitor facilities, mentioning camping, solar panels and parking. This is a relevant overall observation, but the task asks for a summary of the plans and the response gives no specific comparisons or locations. It omits important changes such as the farm shop, holiday cottages, and the road layout, and does not explain which original features remain, including the fruit, soft-fruit and vegetable areas, farmhouse, barn and chicken enclosure. The overview is also too brief to show the main changes clearly. The required minimum of 150 words is not met, leaving the task substantially incomplete. Develop the overview and describe the key changes and retained features with accurate spatial detail.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic two-part structure: an opening sentence introduces the comparison, followed by an overall statement. The word “Overall” signals the second sentence’s purpose, so the reader can identify the intended summary. However, there is no body paragraph and no progression through the plans; the few listed facilities are presented without grouping or explanation. As a result, relationships between the old and new layouts are not made clear. To improve, organise the description into an overview and one or two body paragraphs, grouping changes by area or by features that remain and those that are newly added. Use linking phrases to make comparisons explicit rather than presenting a short list.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses a small number of relevant terms, including “layout,” “multifunctional site,” “camping fields,” “solar panels” and “parking.” These show an attempt to describe the farm’s changing use, but the vocabulary range is very limited because the response is so short, and several expressions are inaccurate or awkward. “Agriculture area” is not a natural phrase for the former farm, while “added the parking” is an imprecise way to describe the new facilities. There are also spelling errors in “illlutrates” and “chnaged.” Use accurate map vocabulary such as “field,” “road,” “converted,” “retained” and “located,” and check spelling carefully. Naming more features would also allow a fuller range of precise terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts a complex opening structure, but “The diagram illlutrates that how…” incorrectly combines “that” with a question-style “how” clause. The second sentence also has problems with articles and agreement: “site that include facilities” should use a plural verb, and “the parking” is not well formed in this context. The writing contains only two sentences, so it does not demonstrate a range of sentence structures or sustained control. The intended meaning is still broadly understandable, but these errors make the phrasing less clear and natural. Prefer a direct construction such as “The plans show how the farm has changed…” and check subject–verb agreement, articles and clause structure when revising.
