Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the site as a farm and mention several relevant changes, including the addition of parking, a camping field, solar panels, holiday cottages and a farm shop. However, the account only partially summarises the plans: the overview focuses on the sheep area and “technological instruments” rather than clearly describing the farm’s overall development. There is also a significant date error: “In 1915” should be 1950. Some details are inaccurate or unclear, such as saying the barn was shifted near the road; the present plan places it at the southern end of a road junction. To improve, compare the two layouts accurately and include key retained features, such as the fruit, soft-fruit and vegetable areas, farmhouse and chickens.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic structure: an introduction, an overview and separate descriptions of the earlier and present layouts. This gives the reader some sense of comparison, and phrases such as “Moreover” and “In today’s farm” help signal progression. However, the progression within paragraphs is not always clear. The overview’s reference to “technological instruments” is vague, and “the farmhouse, barn, and checkens area were at the last” does not clearly explain their positions. The final paragraph lists changes without consistently relating them to the 1950 layout. Organise the details by location or by what changed and what remained, and use clear references such as “the former sheep field” to connect the plans.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “track,” “farmhouse,” “soft fruits,” “parking” and “solar panels,” so the reader can recognise several features. However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations make the description difficult to interpret. “Technological instruments” is not a precise description of the solar panels, while “gardening for soft fruits” and “when it makes v shape” are unnatural or unclear. Spelling errors such as “sheeps,” “checkens,” “holliday” and “fram” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise labels and standard map-description phrases, for example “the sheep field was replaced by…” and “the barn is located beside the road junction.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including “The massive changes can be seen in today’s farm, by replacing…” and a sentence beginning “Moreover.” However, errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between features unclear. For example, “The plans gives” has subject–verb disagreement, “Sheeps area were account” has several problems with agreement and verb form, and “a track was been made” uses an incorrect passive construction. Tense and sentence structure also need attention in “Barn was shifted near the road when it makes v shape.” Practise accurate past and present forms when comparing maps, and check agreement, articles and complete sentence structure before submitting.
