The map illustrate the changes that took place in Beachwood farm between 1950 and the present day.
Overall, a comparison of the two plans reveals a significant transformation of a simple farm into more commercial and industrial zone.
In the year 1950, the Beachwood farm was a simple agriculture area with no shops, parking and camping fields. However, over the past 75 years underwent significant developments, the most noticeable changes occur in the northeast the sheep area demolished into camping field and solar panels. Moreover, the old trackways were converted into proper roads. Additionally, a new farm zone with a farm shop appear in the northwest side along with several parking spaces.
in contrast, the Barn was removed and replaced by two roads located next to farmhouse and chickens. In its place the holiday cottages was constructed. some of the area stayed without any changes like fruit trees, soft fruits, and vegetables along the river.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main overall change: the farm became more commercially oriented, with facilities such as a shop, parking, camping and cottages. You also correctly note that the fruit trees, soft fruits and vegetables remain, and that the former sheep area is now used for camping and solar panels. This gives the response a relevant overview and covers several key comparisons. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: the barn was not removed; it remains, relocated to the south-west of the farmhouse. The cottages are south of the eastbound road, while the farmhouse and chicken enclosure also remain. The claim that the area became “industrial” is not well supported by the plan. More precise coverage of these changes and clearer location descriptions would strengthen the report.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing the earlier and current layouts. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Moreover,” and “Additionally” help signal the sequence of points, and the reader can follow the broad comparison. The organisation is not fully controlled, however. The final paragraph begins with “in contrast” but then combines the barn, roads, cottages and unchanged fields without a clear spatial or thematic order. Some transitions also connect ideas loosely, and the shift from the 1950 layout to present-day changes could be signposted more consistently. Grouping the new northern facilities together, then describing the eastern buildings and unchanged southern fields, would create clearer progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You use a suitable range of map vocabulary, including “transformation,” “converted,” “demolished,” “replaced” and “along the river,” which helps describe change and location. The meaning is generally clear, and you attempt some less common terms. A few choices are imprecise or unnatural: “industrial zone” overstates the nature of the development, while “farm zone” is vague; “trackways” is less accurate than simply referring to the former track. There are also word-form and spelling slips, including “Beachwood” rather than “Beechwood,” and “agriculture area.” Aim for precise terms that match the plan, such as “commercial facilities,” “agricultural land” and “internal roads,” and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “However” and a relative clause in “the most noticeable changes occur in the northeast.” The main ideas remain understandable, but grammatical control is uneven, with errors in tense, agreement, articles and sentence construction. For example, “the map illustrate” needs subject–verb agreement, and “over the past 75 years underwent significant developments” lacks a clear subject. “The holiday cottages was constructed” has a plural agreement error, while “the sheep area demolished into camping field” needs a passive verb and articles. There are also punctuation and capitalisation problems at sentence boundaries. Use complete clauses and check verb forms and agreement, especially when describing changes over time.
