Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several relevant features, including the original crop areas, sheep grazing, farm buildings, and the addition of tourism-related facilities. Your concluding idea that the site has developed into a farm with both tourism and agricultural uses is a useful overall summary. However, some key changes are misreported: the crop plots have not been replaced by a camping field, as fruit trees, soft fruits, and vegetables remain. The sheep area is now associated with the camping field and solar panels, rather than being replaced simply by solar panels and parking. You also say cottages occupy the former farmhouse, barn, and chicken area, although the farmhouse and chickens remain and the cottages are nearby. More precise comparisons of what stayed and what changed would strengthen the report.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic overall structure: it first describes the 1950 farm, then the present-day changes, and ends with a summary. This gives the reader a general sense of the comparison. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited, and several points are presented as a list without clear spatial organisation. For example, the present-day paragraph moves from crops to sheep, then buildings, the shop, tracks, and parking, without grouping features by area or explaining their relationships. Linking phrases such as “in contrast,” “while,” and “to the east” could make comparisons clearer. The repeated use of “The area” also makes references vague, so name the specific field or facility each time.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “sheep grazing,” “farmhouse,” “tracks,” “camping field,” and “facilities,” and you attempt to describe development over time. However, the range is limited and several word-choice or spelling errors make parts difficult to interpret, such as “ships” for sheep, “form” for farm, “westren,” and “torism.” Some phrases are also imprecise: “the size of tracks have been increase” does not clearly describe the roads shown, and “the area previously used for crops” overlooks that the crop plots remain. Use accurate map vocabulary such as “road,” “field,” “plot,” “retained,” and “converted,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Most sentences are simple, with a few attempts to connect ideas using relative clauses and time comparisons. However, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships unclear. Examples include “the farm have,” “the area previously have been used,” and “the size of tracks have been increase,” where tense, agreement, and verb forms are not controlled. Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “The area also used for barn farmhouse and chickens in the eastren side.” Practise forming accurate past and present descriptions, for example, “In 1950, the farm consisted of…” and “Today, the farmhouse remains, while holiday cottages have been added nearby.” More reliable simple sentences would improve clarity before you attempt longer structures.
