Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the two maps as a comparison and include several relevant changes, such as the former sheep area becoming a camping field and the addition of solar panels and parking. You also note that some agricultural features and the farmhouse remain. However, the account is only partial: it does not describe important changes such as the farm shop, the new road layout, or the conversion of the barn area into holiday cottages, and the claim that the barn was replaced is inaccurate—the barn remains, though its position is different. The response is also 95 words, below the required 150, which limits how fully you can select and explain the main features. Develop the overview and add precise location comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic overall structure: an opening identifies the maps, an overview begins with “Overall,” and a final sentence mentions features that remain unchanged. This gives the reader some sense of comparison. However, the progression is limited because the changes and unchanged features are not organised into clear, developed groups, and the short paragraphs do not provide a systematic account of the site. The link “Moreover” adds another change, but the relationship between the ideas is not always clear; “However” introduces the unchanged features without explaining the contrast. Organise the report into an overview followed by paragraphs on the western/agricultural area and the eastern buildings and facilities, using clear location references.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “camping field,” “solar panels,” “parking area,” and “holiday cottages,” so the reader can understand several key developments. However, the range is limited and some choices are inaccurate or unnatural, which makes parts of the description unclear. “Rough and bouncy tracks” is not an appropriate way to describe the map’s tracks, while “shops are still the same” appears to confuse shops with the agricultural areas that remain. There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, including “depic,” “beechword,” and “replace.” Use precise terms for map features and changes, and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a few different sentence forms, including an overview sentence and a contrast introduced by “However,” but the range remains limited and errors occur frequently. For example, “a sheep site is developed into camping field” has problems with tense, article use, and the way the change is expressed; “Barn is replace” also has an incorrect verb form. The sentence “some areas are shops are still the same” contains a faulty structure that makes the meaning difficult to follow. Agreement and article use also need attention in phrases such as “the similar map of farm today.” Practise accurate past-to-present comparisons, using forms such as “was converted into” and “remains,” before attempting longer sentences.
