Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main change from sheep pasture to a more developed site, and you mention several relevant additions, including camping, parking, solar panels, a farm shop and holiday cottages. The overview also notes the conversion of tracks into roads. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the barn was not removed; it remains, relocated to the south-west of the farmhouse. The original sheep area is now divided between the camping field and solar panels, while the farmhouse and chicken enclosure remain. These important comparisons are either missing or only briefly stated. To strengthen the report, describe the main changes by area and distinguish clearly between features that were retained, relocated and newly added.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic overall structure, moving from an overview to details about the site, and it uses linking expressions such as “Overall,” “However” and “Moreover.” Nevertheless, progression is difficult to follow because several changes are combined in long, loosely connected sentences. For example, the second paragraph moves from sheep pasture to roads, the farm shop and the barn without a clear spatial or thematic order. Some links are also awkward or repetitive, such as “Therefore” and “Moverover.” Organise the details into clear groups—for instance, the western fields and access road, then the eastern facilities and buildings—and use references that make each location easy to track.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “camping field,” “solar panels,” “farm shop,” “holiday cottages” and “river,” so the reader can identify many of the features being discussed. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning unclear. “The site of sheep” and “a third part for solar panels” do not describe the map naturally, while “the field of fruit trees add a farm shop” is imprecise. There are also spelling errors such as “nowaday,” “easly” and “Moverover.” Aim for precise terms such as “sheep pasture,” “an area for solar panels” and “a farm shop was added beside the fruit trees,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “where” and “in which,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in verb forms and agreement appear in examples such as “The map depict,” “the track has up grated,” and “the barn is remove and replace.” Articles and plurals are also problematic in “a holiday cottages,” and several sentences lack a clear grammatical structure, particularly “Overall, the site of sheep has significant developments in which includes…” These errors can make relationships between changes difficult to understand. Practise accurate past and present passive forms for map descriptions—for example, “the track was converted into a road” and “the barn remains”—and use shorter, complete sentences when describing each feature.
