Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the two time periods and mention several genuine changes, including the sheep area becoming a camping field, the addition of solar panels and parking, and the conversion of the old barn into holiday cottages. However, the response only partially summarises the plans: it gives no clear overview of the main pattern of change and omits important retained features, such as the fruit, soft-fruit and vegetable plots, farmhouse and chickens. Some details are inaccurate or unclear: the farm shop and first parking area are not both simply “on the right hand of a road,” and the new barn is not near the vegetable area. The claim that the track directions are the same also overlooks the road changes. The response is 147 words, three words below the 150-word minimum; develop the overview and comparisons more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response by introducing the maps and then listing developments, using markers such as “The first development,” “The second change” and “The major change.” This gives the reader some sense of sequence. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the opening repeats the same time comparison, and the final sentence introduces a broad claim about the tracks without explaining it. Several ideas are crowded into long sentences, while paragraphing does not clearly separate an overview from specific comparisons. Some linking is mechanical or incomplete, as in “one more change that is Barn is build.” Group the changes by location or by what stayed and what changed, and use clear references to connect each comparison.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a site, including “converted,” “camping field,” “solar panels” and “holiday cottages,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several choices are imprecise or awkward, such as “meaningful and useful,” “todays look” and “the main map is same.” Repetition of “change” and “plan” also limits precision. There are noticeable spelling and word-form errors, including “pannels,” which reduce the accuracy of the description. Aim for concise map vocabulary such as “was replaced by,” “was redeveloped as,” “remained unchanged” and “was added,” and choose terms that describe the actual spatial relationship rather than relying on general phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts to combine ideas using clauses, for example when describing the former sheep area and the new camping field, but the range of sentence structures is limited and complex attempts are often faulty. Errors include “the second diagram show,” “The farm shop and the parking in on,” and “Barn is build,” where verb forms or agreement are incorrect. Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent: “shows 1950 plan” needs an article, and “today. The” lacks a space after the full stop. These errors sometimes make relationships between features difficult to follow. Practise accurate past and present passive forms for map changes, such as “the barn was converted” and “solar panels have been installed,” alongside shorter, correctly punctuated comparison sentences.
