Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad change from a farm to a site with additional visitor facilities, and you mention several relevant features, including the sheep area, crops, camping field, solar panels and farm shop. However, the comparison is only partly developed: the overview that some features stayed similar is not made precise, and important changes such as the holiday cottages and the two parking areas are omitted. Some details are inaccurate or unclear. For example, the chickens are not shown as occupying a large proportion of the site, and the barn is not simply moved near the chickens; it remains in the eastern part of the site but is repositioned beside the road junction. Select the main changes and describe their locations accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic chronological structure, moving from 1950 to today, and the opening overview signals that you intend to compare the plans. However, progression within the paragraphs is difficult to follow because several features are crowded into long sentences, such as the description beginning “The fruit trees and soft fruits and vegetables”. Linking expressions including “Moreover”, “Although” and “on the other hand” are sometimes used without a clear logical relationship, and the final sentence breaks off before completing the comparison. Organise the details into clear groups—for example, land use in the western area and changes around the buildings—and use shorter sentences with clear references to each location.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “track”, “camping field”, “solar panels” and “farmhouse”, which helps communicate the general subject. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing plans. Calling the facilities “shops” is misleading, while “shops and facilities” is repeated instead of naming the features. Phrases such as “the river were floating” and “a very great advancement” do not express the map information naturally. There are also frequent spelling and word-form errors, including “sheeps”, “loacted”, “proporption” and “advancment”. Build a precise set of location and change terms, such as “was replaced by”, “to the north of” and “was converted into”.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt longer sentences and use time contrasts such as “In 1950” and “today”, but complex sentences are often difficult to control, and errors occur throughout. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in examples such as “some shops were similar … but some were change” and “the site were having”. Plural and article forms also need attention: “sheeps was located” and “a Barn and farmhouse was located”. Several clauses lack clear grammatical connections, particularly the long sentence describing the crops, river and buildings, and the final sentence is incomplete. Practise writing one clear sentence for each main comparison, checking tense, agreement and sentence boundaries before adding more complex structures.
