Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify the two time periods and mention several genuine changes, including the new camping field, solar panels, parking areas and holiday cottages. However, the response is far too brief to summarise the plans adequately: it stops mid-sentence after “the redevelopment of the beechwood farm is” and omits major changes such as the farm shop, internal roads and the altered arrangement of the buildings. There is also a location error: the cottages are south of the eastern road, while the barn remains on the site, rather than the cottages replacing it. The overview is only partly developed, and the required minimum of 150 words is not met. Add a complete overview and compare the main land-use changes accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening sentence is followed by an overview beginning “Overall,” and then a further point. This gives the reader some indication of the intended structure. However, the response ends abruptly, so there is no clear progression through the main features or a developed comparison between 1950 and today. The phrase “On eof the highlights is that” introduces an idea but does not complete it, and the overview’s details are not grouped or connected into a coherent account. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and key changes, and link each comparison clearly to its location and time period.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some relevant map vocabulary, including “site,” “replaced,” “camping field,” “solar panels,” “parking areas” and “holiday cottages.” These terms show an attempt to describe land use and development, but the range is limited and several expressions are imprecise or awkward. “The site looked on the present day” is not a natural way to describe a plan, while “the place for sheep” is less precise than naming the area or field. The phrase “on the western side” also conflicts with the map’s location of the cottages. Aim for accurate, map-specific wording and use a wider range of terms for features, locations and changes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt a compound sentence in the overview, but most of the response relies on short, basic structures, and the final sentence is incomplete. There are noticeable errors in sentence formation and agreement: “the site looked on the present day” does not form a correct comparison, and “a holiday cottages is added” has a mismatch between the article, plural noun and verb. The opening also needs a more accurate tense construction to compare the plans. Punctuation and spacing are inconsistent, particularly in “field , solar panels and two parking areas.And”. Practise complete comparative sentences, checking articles, plural agreement and verb forms before finishing.
