Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the broad change from a farm to a more developed site and mention several relevant additions, including the farm shop, camping field, solar panels, parking and holiday cottages. However, the account only partially summarises the plans: it gives little clear comparison of what remained, such as the fruit, soft-fruit and vegetable areas, farmhouse and chickens. Some locations are also misreported or unclear: the solar panels are in the north-east, not the north-west, and the farmhouse was not newly placed at the western corner. The overview that the area is “fully changed” is too sweeping because important agricultural features remain. Select the main changes and describe their positions accurately to make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is an attempt to organise the response with an opening, an overall statement and further details, and phrases such as “Overall” and “The noticeable thing” signal that you are moving between points. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the details are not grouped clearly by area or by what changed and remained. Several sentences run together, for example, “Ther area became more developed and mordenised,Today's added the more shops…”; this weakens the links between ideas. Repeated references to “the layout,” “the map” and “the noticeable thing” also make the account repetitive. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and key changes, then connect details with clear location-based sequencing.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “camping field,” “farm shop,” “solar panels” and “holiday cottages,” which helps identify features of the plans. However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “makes the two intersected roads,” “chicken shop” and “opened the three buildings.” These expressions make it harder to understand what was added or where. Spelling errors, including “mordenised,” “noticable” and “befor,” are also noticeable. Build a more precise set of verbs for map changes—such as “was added,” “was converted into” and “remained”—and check spelling and collocations before finishing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, but control is inconsistent, and errors frequently make relationships between features difficult to understand. For example, “The maps illustrates” has subject–verb disagreement, while “Today's added the more shops” does not form a correct sentence. Tense and sentence construction are also problematic in “The chicken shop is already in the layout befor and now,” and punctuation is often missing after sentence boundaries, as in “significant changes.Ther area.” Most sentences rely on basic patterns, with longer attempts often becoming incomplete or run-on. Practise accurate past and present passive forms for map descriptions, and separate each complete idea with correct punctuation.
