Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main change: the farm has become more developed, with facilities such as parking, camping, solar panels and holiday cottages. You also note that the river and several agricultural areas remain, and mention the new farm shop. These are relevant comparisons. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: the barn, farmhouse and chicken enclosure are described as having changed, although all three are still shown today, with the barn relocated. The overview that the site “developed much” is also broad, and the response does not clearly explain the main changes in the layout. To strengthen the report, distinguish what stayed, what was added and what was moved, using precise locations and a clearer overview.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall structure, moving from an introduction to an overview and then to comparisons, with a final summary. Linking expressions such as “However,” “Moreover” and “Furthermore” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression within the main paragraph is difficult to follow: changes in the northern, eastern and south-western areas are mixed together, and the sentence beginning “Moreover, During the past…” contains several ideas without clear separation. Some links are also awkward or repetitive, and the final “To sum up” repeats the general claim rather than adding a useful concluding comparison. Organise the details by area or by what remained versus what changed, and use shorter, clearly connected sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “river,” “parking area,” “camping field,” “solar panels” and “farm shop,” so the reader can identify several key features. However, the range is limited and many phrases are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to understand. Examples include “the different of site,” “this is become a modern,” “these are stay similer” and “worthly.” Repetition of general words such as “things” also reduces precision. Aim to use accurate terms for change and location, such as “remained,” “was converted into,” “was relocated” and “in the north-east.” Check spelling and word forms, and choose specific nouns rather than relying on “things.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer comparisons, including a contrast with “whereas,” which shows some effort to vary sentence structure. However, errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between features unclear. The opening, “The plans illustrates,” has subject–verb disagreement, while “the Beechwood farm was simple while today this is become” has faulty tense and sentence construction. Other examples include “the southwest conner had vegetable” and “these are stay similer.” Articles, plurals, verb forms and punctuation also need more consistent control. Build accurate short sentences first, then combine them with a clear contrast clause; for example, state what remained and separately explain what was added or moved.
