Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the two time periods and report several relevant changes, including the addition of parking, a camping field, solar panels and holiday cottages. You also note that the river and some agricultural areas remain. However, the overview is not fully clear, and several details are inaccurate or confusing: the road and river are not simply unchanged, the sheep area is replaced by the camping field and solar panels rather than just solar panels, and the barn is relocated rather than described clearly as shifting “to down of the triangle road.” The claim that the farmhouse and chickens are unchanged is broadly supported, but the main transformation of the site needs a more precise summary. Select the most important changes and describe their locations accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic structure, moving from 1950 to today and ending with a conclusion, so the reader can recognise the intended comparison. However, progression within the paragraphs is difficult to follow because several features are crowded into long, loosely connected sentences. For example, the 1950 description moves from the road and river to the track, buildings and sheep without clear grouping, while “And” and “also” repeatedly link ideas. Some references are unclear, such as “one end” and “the end of right.” Organise the report into a concise overview followed by separate, logically grouped descriptions of the western and eastern areas, and use clearer location references and linking phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “river,” “track,” “fruit trees,” “parking,” “camping field” and “holiday cottages,” which helps convey the topic. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms make the meaning difficult to interpret. Phrases such as “three things are attached,” “one triangle track,” and “Barn shifted to down” are not natural ways to describe map features or changes. There are also spelling errors, including “staright” and “camping filed.” Use precise location and change vocabulary, such as “adjacent to,” “to the north of,” “was converted into,” and “was relocated,” and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to describe locations and changes using both simple statements and longer sentences, but control of sentence structure is weak and errors frequently obscure relationships between features. Examples include “The diagrams illustrates,” “road are goes,” and “Track are also same,” where agreement and verb forms are incorrect. Articles and prepositions are also often missing or misused, as in “discuss the both site” and “shifted to down of the triangle road.” Tense control is inconsistent when comparing the past with the present. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, such as “The road ran…” and “The track has been replaced by a road,” then combine them with correctly formed clauses.
