Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad contrast between the simpler 1950 farm and its more developed present-day use, and you mention several features that remain, including the river, fruit plots, farmhouse and chickens. However, the comparison is only partly accurate and developed. The response says the fruit trees, soft fruits and vegetables have “no changing,” but the present-day plan also adds a farm shop beside the fruit trees, and the road layout and uses of the site change. The barn and holiday cottages are also confused: the barn remains, while cottages are added south of the eastern road. Your overview that the sheep area is replaced by solar panels and camping is relevant, but it omits other major changes and gives an inaccurate account of the area’s division. Describe the key changes more precisely and compare locations.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, a description of the earlier site and its unchanged features, and a final paragraph about new uses. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “In 1950” and “The main improvements seen in today site” signal a shift in focus. However, progression is not consistently clear because the first paragraph contains incomplete or loosely connected statements, including “Where some of the plan have no effect in both diagrams.” The second paragraph moves between unchanged features, the barn and cottages without a clear sequence, while “Although” does not introduce a complete contrast. Use a clearer overview followed by grouped comparisons—for example, agricultural areas first, then buildings and access—and connect each comparison explicitly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing maps, including “site,” “features,” “positions,” “area,” “solar panels” and “field camping.” These terms show an attempt to report changes rather than simply list labels. However, the range is limited, and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “information of comparing,” “some advancements occurs,” “replace the sheep are,” and “extra parking.” “Advancements” is also not a natural way to describe changes to a farm layout. Use precise map language such as “was converted into,” “was added,” “remained in the same location” and “north-east of.” This would make the comparisons clearer and reduce the reader’s effort in interpreting your meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts some longer structures, including “Although there is no changing in fruit trees…” and “As half area use for installing the solar panels…,” but these are not controlled successfully. Errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction: “some advancements occurs,” “farm sites have simply design,” and “half of the area dedicated” all need grammatical repair. The opening also contains a sentence fragment beginning “Where,” and the “Although” clause is not completed with a main clause. Most sentences rely on simple patterns, so the range is limited as well as inaccurate. Practise forming complete comparison sentences with consistent past and present tenses, for example, “The sheep field was replaced by a camping area and solar panels.”
