Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the two time periods and give a broad overview that the farm gained new facilities, including solar panels, parking, a farm shop and holiday cottages. However, several key details are inaccurate or unclear: in 1950, sheep occupied the northern area, not the southeast corner, and the river did not directly link the barn, farmhouse and chicken enclosure. The claim that the farm’s overall shape changed also conflicts with your earlier point that its original shape remained unchanged. The comparison would be more complete if you described the retained features, such as the fruit, soft-fruit and vegetable plots, farmhouse and chicken area, alongside the new visitor facilities. These omissions and misreadings limit how fully the plans are reported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph about 1950 and a final comparison with today. Time markers such as “In 1950” and “In contrast” help readers follow the broad sequence. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to track because several features are compressed into long statements, and the final sentence introduces a conclusion without clearly summarising the main changes. Some linking is mechanical, particularly the abrupt fragment “In contrast to 1950’s farm condition.” Grouping the information by location or by retained versus newly added features, and using clearer links between complete sentences, would make the comparisons easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing plans, including “solar panels,” “farm shop,” “holiday cottages,” “adjacent” and “construction.” This gives you a basic range for naming changes and locations. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “the certain changes of a same farm,” “features play as a divider,” and “the barn position is made at the middle of road.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “noticable,” “surronded” and “instalation,” also reduce precision. Aim for standard map-description phrases such as “the farm underwent changes,” “the tracks were replaced by roads,” and “the barn was relocated.” More precise vocabulary would help distinguish what was retained from what was added.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, but control is inconsistent, and errors often make relationships between features unclear. For example, “The tracks has been replaced” has subject–verb disagreement, while “A lot of features has changed” also uses the wrong verb form. Articles and sentence construction are problematic in phrases such as “a same farm” and “on the significant changes”; the latter is not a complete, well-formed clause. Tense and number are also inconsistent in “the barn position is made” and “was in the south.” Use complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, check singular/plural agreement, and maintain past tense for 1950 and present tense for today. Punctuation and spacing around sentence boundaries also need attention.
