Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad change from a farm with tracks to a site with more visitor facilities, and you note that the fruit-growing areas remain and that solar panels and a camping field are new. These are relevant main features. However, the overview is unclear, and several details are inaccurate or difficult to interpret: the sheep area is not simply converted into both camping and solar-panel space, and the barn remains rather than being replaced by holiday cottages. The farmhouse and chicken enclosure also remain in broadly the same positions. The response therefore covers some important changes but only partially reports the plans, with comparisons that are under-developed. Make the overview explicit, then describe the retained features and the main additions or changes accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is an attempt to organise the response into an overview and two body paragraphs, and words such as “while,” “moreover” and “contrast” show an effort to connect ideas. However, the progression is difficult to follow because several changes are combined in long, loosely connected sentences. For example, the sentence beginning “In 1950 showing a beechwood farm” moves from fruit areas to the shop, parking, road, sheep, camping and solar panels without clear grouping. Some linking expressions do not show the intended relationship, and references such as “they” and “their” are unclear. Use one paragraph for the western fields and new facilities, and another for the eastern buildings and access, with shorter sentences and clear comparisons.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “farm shop,” “parking,” “solar panels,” “camping field” and “holiday cottages,” which helps convey the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the description hard to understand, such as “structure,” “highway,” “chicken shop” and “champing field.” “Structure” is also repeated where more precise terms such as “track,” “road” or “building” are needed. Spelling errors, including “fruits trres” and “strcuture,” further reduce clarity. Build a small set of accurate map-description terms and use them consistently, especially for locations, routes and changes over time.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts to use longer sentences and comparisons, for example with “while,” “however” and “furthermore,” but these structures are often incomplete or difficult to parse. Verb forms and sentence construction are frequent problems: “The plans below illustrate … and the simultaneously site today” does not form a clear comparison, while “In 1950 showing a beechwood farm” lacks a finite verb. Tense and agreement are also inconsistent, as in “they fruits … are same” and “they road are.” Articles and punctuation are often missing or misplaced, making sentence boundaries unclear. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses such as “whereas” or “while.”
