Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the broad change that the present-day farm has more facilities, and mention several relevant features, including the shop, parking, camping field, solar panels and holiday cottages. However, the account only partially reports the plans: it gives little clear comparison of what has changed or remained, and some locations are inaccurate or unclear. For example, the 1950 plan has a main road, not a flyover, and the modern plan does not show a shop of solar panels; the farm shop and solar panels are separate features. The overview that there are “more developments” is relevant but too general. To improve, state the main changes clearly, then accurately compare the layout and uses of the site in each period.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response follows a basic time-based order, moving from the 1950 plan to the modern one, and uses signposts such as “Furthermore” and “If we compare both sites.” This gives the reader some sense of the intended structure. However, progression within the descriptions is difficult to follow: features are repeatedly introduced with “beside,” and several sentences combine locations without making their relationships clear. The opening repeats the task rather than giving a concise overview, while paragraphing does not clearly separate the overview from the detailed comparisons. Organise the response into an introduction and overview, followed by one paragraph for each plan, and use precise location links such as “to the north of” or “south-west of.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing maps, including “track,” “river,” “parking,” “camping fields” and “holiday cottages.” This allows the reader to recognise many of the features you intend to describe. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or informal for this task. “Flyover” is not shown on either plan, “forest” is not the label for the camping field, and “shop of solar panels” confuses two separate features. Repeated evaluative words such as “beautiful,” “big” and “clean” do not help describe the layout. Aim for precise map vocabulary and neutral language, using terms such as “main road,” “farm shop,” “solar panels” and “occupies.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentence forms, for example “which contains chickens” and “If we compare both sites,” but the range is limited and complex attempts are often faulty. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are frequently problematic: “In the year 1950.There is…” creates a fragment, while “As we can see in site given below, that…” lacks correct spacing and structure. Articles and prepositions are also often missing or awkward, as in “in site given below” and “beside the fruit trees, vegetables and soft fruits there is a long narrow track.” These errors sometimes make relationships between features hard to understand. Practise complete sentences with consistent present/past forms, and check articles, commas and sentence boundaries during editing.
