Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main transformation from a track to roads and note the addition of parking, a camping field, solar panels, a farm shop and holiday cottages. The overview also recognises that the river remains, which is a useful comparison. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: the sheep are described as being in the “top right corner,” whereas the original plan places them north of the track, and the present-day uses are not simply a replacement of the sheep area. The statement that cottages “take place of Barn” misrepresents the layout: the cottages are south of the eastbound road, while the barn is relocated to the south-west of the farmhouse. More precise descriptions of the fields and buildings would make the comparison fuller and clearer.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate descriptions of the earlier and current plans. This gives the reader a basic chronological progression. However, connections between details are sometimes difficult to follow, particularly in the 1950 description: “above the chickens there were two other places Barn and the farmhouse is located in between them” does not clearly explain the buildings’ positions. Linking words such as “Furthermore,” “On the other hand,” and “In addition” help signal relationships, but some are used mechanically or do not express the relationship accurately. Improve cohesion by grouping features by area and using clear references, for example, describing the western fields together and then the eastern buildings and facilities.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant map vocabulary, including “river,” “track,” “farmhouse,” “holiday cottages,” and “triangular,” so the reader can identify many of the features. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “transformed” and “modified.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural: “solar plants” should be “solar panels,” “captured by Sheep” does not describe land use naturally, and “installed in Fruit trees” is not an appropriate way to locate a shop. Spelling and word-form errors, including “occure,” “Moreever,” and “modifey,” also reduce precision. Choose standard map-description phrases such as “was occupied by,” “was converted into,” and “was situated beside” to express locations and changes more accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, control of sentence structure and basic grammar is inconsistent. For example, “The plans illustrates” has subject–verb disagreement, while “the track have trianglular shape” has an incorrect verb form and is missing an article. Several sentences are fragments, including “Change the location of Barn and connect with road,” and punctuation does not reliably separate clauses, as in “while, the track located…” These issues make some relationships between features unclear. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement, articles, and tense. A wider range of accurate complex sentences would help communicate comparisons more smoothly.
