Student answer (Band 5.5)
Looking from an overall perspective,it is readily apparent that farming operations have been greatly reduced and the site is diversified for tourism and energy generation.the main infrastructure of main road and river are remain unchanged.
in 1950 the northern and eastern area was the large field just sheep grazing. but in today that area is totally changed in to tourism spot and solar panels are added for energy and parking are added. in 1950 there was a mud track and triangular insertion it transformed in to road and it leads to barn if we enter from left side of road farm main road in 1950 there was simple fields fruit trees and vegetables they all are remained same but farm shop is added if we move forward along the road on right side along the right side of road there was barn farmhouse but now this area is now tourisit there is now holiday cottage and having parking in front of it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main overall change: the farm has diversified towards tourism and energy, while the river and main road remain. You also mention several relevant developments, including solar panels, parking, a farm shop and holiday cottages. However, the comparison is only partly developed, and some details are inaccurate or unclear. The sheep-grazing area is not simply replaced by tourism: the camping field and solar panels occupy parts of the former open area, while fruit production remains. The original barn is not described as leading from the road, and the present-day barn is south-west of the farmhouse. Explain the main changes by area and accurately distinguish what stayed from what changed to make the summary more complete and clear.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is an attempt to organise the response from an overview to details about the northern area and then the fields and buildings. This gives the reader some sense of comparison, and phrases such as “in 1950” and “but in today” signal time changes. However, the progression is difficult to follow because several locations and changes are packed into long, loosely connected sentences. The repeated “if we move forward” and “along the right side” do not establish clear map directions, and the final sentence combines the former barn, farmhouse, cottages and parking without a precise relationship. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and the main areas, and group details by location with clear contrasts such as “whereas” and “by contrast.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “farming operations,” “solar panels,” “fruit trees,” “farm shop” and “holiday cottage,” which helps communicate the broad changes. There is also an attempt to use more specific language such as “diversified” and “energy generation.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, including “tourism spot,” “triangular insertion” and “mud track.” Spelling errors such as “tourisit” and imprecise repetition of “area” and “road” also reduce clarity. Build a more precise set of map-description terms—such as “converted into,” “replaced by,” “retained” and “located to the south of”—and check spelling and natural word combinations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to combine ideas and compare the two dates, but the response relies heavily on long sentences joined by “but,” “and” and “if.” These attempts often contain errors that make relationships difficult to understand. For example, “the main infrastructure of main road and river are remain unchanged” has problems with articles, agreement and verb form; “in today that area is totally changed” also has an incorrect time expression and tense. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, including the missing space after “perspective,” and several sentences run together. Practise accurate past and present passive forms for map changes, such as “was replaced by” and “has been converted into,” and use shorter, correctly punctuated sentences alongside more complex comparisons.
