Student answer (Band 5.5)

The given maps illustrate the site of Beachwood farm in 1950 and the same site in present day.

Overall, the graph of farm in 1950 was not well grow there has been alot of things was missed. But, the map of present day is established full of relialbe facilities.

In 1950, the beachwood farm has river around the site and has one turn after a long distance of traveling, in adittion to this there was a local track linked with the naib road of heavy vehicles. In the center of track and river there was many fields like fruit trees, soft fruits, vegetable field and also there was a poultry farm, big barn for cattles and on the other side of track place for sheeps/

In Present day, there are many pleasant and beneficial things are installed. The whole map today is same as was in 1950, but shop of farm opened infront of fruit trees and made park ini the corner of the main road and local road. There are camping field, parking for vehicles also made and installed the solar pannel system for free electricity, also made holiday cottages for foriegn visitors.

In conclusion, there is big difference between these maps of 1950, and present day map. The farm today is looking very good to attracting the visitors to visit this place and do camping.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the two time periods and mention several relevant features, including the river, fields, farm shop, camping area, parking, solar panels and holiday cottages. However, the comparison is only partly accurate and developed. The statement that the site is “same as was in 1950” overlooks substantial changes: the internal track became a road, the sheep area was replaced by camping and solar panels, and holiday cottages and a farm shop were added. Some details are also unclear or unsupported, such as “poultry farm” and “big barn for cattles.” The overview that the present farm has more facilities is relevant, but “not well grow” does not clearly describe the earlier layout. Compare the main changes more precisely and explain what remained unchanged.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, separate paragraphs for 1950 and today, and a conclusion. This gives the reader a coherent overall arrangement. Time markers such as “In 1950” and “In Present day” help distinguish the maps, and “Overall” signals an overview. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because several locations and changes are packed into long sentences, particularly the description beginning “In the center of track and river.” Linking phrases such as “in addition to this” and “also” are repetitive or awkward, and the conclusion repeats the general idea of change rather than summarising the key contrasts. Group features by location and use clearer comparisons between the two plans.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “river,” “fruit trees,” “soft fruits,” “camping field,” “solar panel system” and “holiday cottages,” so the reader can identify many of the map features. However, the range and control are limited, and several inaccurate or unnatural choices make meaning less clear. For example, “the graph of farm” is unsuitable for a map, “naib road” appears to mean the main road, and “made park” does not accurately describe the parking areas. Spelling errors such as “relialbe,” “pannel” and “foriegn” are also noticeable. Build a more precise set of map-description terms, especially for locations and changes, and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the time-based paragraphs show an effort to describe changes. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction sometimes make the relationships between features difficult to understand. For example, “there has been alot of things was missed” combines incompatible verb forms, while “there are many pleasant and beneficial things are installed” has an incorrect clause structure. In “the beachwood farm has river,” an article is missing, and “there was many fields” has subject–verb disagreement. Tense use also shifts between past and present when describing each map. Practise building accurate sentences with one clear main clause, then add location or comparison details.
