Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the two time periods and attempt an overall comparison, noting that the farm has been developed and that roads, parking, camping and solar panels are present today. You also mention several original features, including fruit trees, soft fruits, vegetables, the farmhouse and chickens. However, the overview is unclear and some key changes are misreported: sheep have been replaced by a camping field and solar panels, not by parking; the barn remains, while holiday cottages are added south of the eastern road. The claim that there was a bridge is unsupported, and the present-day description does not clearly locate the farm shop or the two parking areas. Select the main changes accurately and compare their positions to make the summary more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic three-part structure: an introduction and overview, followed by descriptions of 1950 and today. This gives the reader some sense of the intended comparison, and words such as “while” and “whereas” attempt to connect contrasting details. However, progression within the paragraphs is difficult to follow because several ideas are joined in long, unclear sequences, such as “In barn has removed and added to be holiuday cottages and barn.” Repeated use of “there was/are” and “whereas” also makes the linking mechanical, while references such as “there” do not always make the location clear. Organise each period by area or feature, and use shorter sentences with precise links between old and new arrangements.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “farmhouse,” “fruit trees,” “vegetables,” “parking” and “solar panels,” so the reader can recognise several features. However, the range is limited and repeated wording such as “removed and added” does not clearly express the changes. Several spelling errors—“undevlopment,” “folllowed,” “fruite” and “holiuday”—make the description less clear, and phrases such as “mostly development” and “one bridge” are imprecise or unsupported. Use accurate change vocabulary and location phrases, for example, “was replaced by,” “was converted into,” “to the north of” and “along the eastern road.” Check spelling carefully, especially for labels taken from the plan.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to use both simple statements and contrast clauses, for example, “There was soft fruits and vegetables in southern side, while there was sheep in northen side.” However, the range is limited, and frequent errors in sentence construction and verb forms make several statements hard to understand. Examples include “track has removed and added by road,” “There are sheep has a removed,” and “There are added by barn.” These need clear passive forms, such as “The track was replaced by a road” and “A barn was added.” There are also problems with articles, agreement and sentence boundaries, as in “There was soft fruits.” Practise accurate past and present descriptions, and build each sentence around a clear subject and verb.
