Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the two time periods and mention several relevant changes, including the new farm shop, camping field, solar panels, parking and holiday cottages. You also note that some features, such as the river and farmhouse, remain. However, the overview is unclear and some comparisons are inaccurate: sheep are shown in 1950, not added today, and the barn remains on the site rather than being replaced by cottages. The response also says the farm was for tourists and guests, which is not supported by the plans. To strengthen the report, give a clear overview of the main shift from agricultural land to visitor facilities, then describe the key changes and unchanged features accurately. (Eight words copied from the task prompt were not counted.)
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has three paragraphs, with an opening, a description of 1950 and a comparison with today, so there is some basic organisation. However, the progression within paragraphs is difficult to follow because several features are joined in long, loosely connected sentences. Phrases such as “so some thing is same but some thing is added” and repeated uses of “and” do not clearly signal how the details relate. References such as “the same thing” and “it” are also vague. Organise the report into a concise overview followed by clearly grouped details—for example, changes to the western fields and new facilities, then changes around the farmhouse and barn—and use linking words to show contrast and location.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “river,” “fruit trees,” “parking place,” “camping field” and “holiday cottage,” which helps communicate the general subject. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “same place,” “added” and “thing.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “empaty land,” “gest,” “caompare” and “selding,” which make parts of the description hard to interpret. Choose precise map vocabulary and vary the language used to describe change: for instance, say that facilities were “introduced” or “added,” and that a feature “remained” or “was relocated.” Check spelling carefully before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts to describe both past and present and includes some longer sentences, but the grammatical range is limited and many sentences are difficult to process. For example, “the same thing is river and chickenn fruis trees soft fruit vegetable and farmhouse is same place in today” lacks clear sentence structure and accurate agreement. Tense and article use are also inconsistent in phrases such as “in today” and “there was added a solar panels.” Most ideas are expressed through simple clauses joined by “and,” while attempts to combine comparisons often become faulty. Practise accurate past and present forms, singular and plural agreement, and complete sentences. Use a clear pattern such as “The farmhouse remains in the same location, while new cottages have been built nearby.”
