Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the two maps and mention several relevant changes, including the sheep area becoming a camping field and the addition of parking and solar panels. You also note that tracks have become roads and that a farm shop and holiday cottages were added. However, the overview is unclear (“the big in the map map”) and the comparison is only partly developed: important changes to the eastern buildings and the layout are not explained clearly, and some locations are vague or inaccurate. The response also ends mid-sentence and contains 142 words, so it does not meet the 150-word minimum; eight words copied from the prompt were excluded from the count. Organise the main changes into a complete overview and compare the site’s key areas more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation: you begin with an introduction, provide an overview, and then discuss the 1950 and present-day plans. This gives the reader a general sense of the comparison. However, progression is limited, and the final paragraph stops at “holiday cottages also created on,” leaving the account incomplete. Several ideas are crowded into long sentences, such as the list of the 1950 features, while linking phrases such as “on the other hand” do not clearly connect the locations being compared. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and the main changes, and group features by area or by what has changed. Clearer referencing and complete sentences would make the sequence easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “sheep area,” “camping field,” “farm shop,” “tracks,” and “river,” so the reader can identify several features. However, the range is limited and some word choices or forms are inaccurate or repetitive: “big” is vague, “alot of changes” is informal, and “technology is facilitated” does not naturally describe the addition of solar panels. Spelling errors such as “pannel” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise terms such as “area,” “converted,” “introduced,” and “solar panels were installed,” and avoid repeating “created.” More accurate vocabulary for location and change would help you describe the plans with greater clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, for example, “There is another change which is that tracks are converted to roads,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in articles and sentence construction appear in “a same site” and “There is big sheep area,” while the opening overview lacks a clear grammatical structure. Tense and agreement are also problematic in “tracks are converted to roads” when describing a change between 1950 and today. The long sentence listing the 1950 features is difficult to follow because clauses and punctuation are not controlled, and the final sentence is incomplete. Practise accurate past-to-present comparisons, use complete sentences, and check articles, verb forms, and punctuation.
